My 2000 Acura/Honda integra gsr is not accelerating correctly?
So it started about a week ago when this problem started. The problem went away for a couple of days and today it came back. At first i though it was the transmission or the clutch slipping. What happened today was that i was at around 6k rpm on vtec and all of the sudden it feels like the car is stopping/slowing down and i'm on full throttle. I looked at my rpms and they are not moving. So i parked the car for five hours and then a drove it again and it felt fine but then moments later in started again the car was hesitating to accelerate as if it was not getting enough fuel or something. I'm still thinking its my clutch or my tranny. But then i notice the car was doing it worst. So i park my car and without the car moving i can her the car is not acting right. So i accelerate on neutral and the car was hesitated. I'm going to change my fuel filter and see if that is the problem from what i have research people had the same problem and changed the fuel filter and that solved the problem. I have no Check engine light on yet so i don't think its an 02 sensor, however my mainteance light is flashing but then goes away if that helps. What else can it be? Also when i'm in first gear the car is not accelerating properly and start vibrating/shaking and i have change my spark plugs around 3k miles ago i need some advice.
Replace the filter and test the fuel pressure. You might have a bad fuel pump.
Could be the fuel pump. As for check engine light, that doesn't mean there aren't any fault codes stored in the ECU. Might as well hook it up for a read.
Also do a compression test to see if the head gasket is still good.
I suspect it is the Mass Air Flow Meter. I had a similar erratic problem on an infinity. If the air flow meter says you have inadequate air flow, it will restrict fuel causing the car to lose power and slow down. The MAF meter is located on the intake of your air filter. Unplug it and see if your car doesn't react in the same way with a loss of power. IF your check engine light is on, go, to, an auto, parts place and have them read the codes. It may tell you what's wrong. I went to a junk yard and took the MAF off an old car and replaced it. The problem was solved relatively inexpensively.
- 1990 Acura integra part swap? - 1 Wondering if the door off of a Honda Civic dx or Honda Accord from 1990 will fit on my four door Acura integra
- Honda civic SiR 2000 vs Lancer gsr 2 door? I don't know about cars but i want to know which is better in stock engine performance etc. And why it's better thanks for the sensible answer
- 2001 Honda civic EX or 2000 Acura Integra? The honda has 134k for $3,500 and the Acura is a 4 cylinder with 166k for $3,500. I don't know which one to choose. Any suggestions? And why or why not you chose that car.
- 2000 Honda Civic, 170,000 miles. Was driving, and the car stopped accelerating? Was driving when the car stopped accelerating while I was pushing the pedal. Engine still revved, RPMs still went up. I coasted until I stopped and parked the car. Then I started the car again, was able to drive forward for about 500 feet into a safe parking lot and it happened again. Transmission related I suspect but I wanted some more knowledgeable opinions.
