Why is my 93 honda tech building pressure in the cooling system and blowing hoses?
The most likely cause is a bad head gasket. A reasonably reliable shade tree check is to remove the radiator cap (engine cold or barely warm) and start the engine. Pinch shut the hose going from the radiator neck to the reservoir and put the palm of your hand over the radiator neck where the cap was. If you feel steady pressure rise within 5 seconds (or worse yet, pulsations) that is bad news. Otherwise, look elsewhere for the problem.
What's a Honda tech?
Anyway, two possibilities:
1. It has the original hoses (22 years old now), and they just can't take normal cooling system pressure.
2. The pressure cap is not functioning - not allowing coolant to escape into the overflow reservoir.
When an engine warms up, the coolant expands and has to go somewhere, either by bursting hoses or into the overflow tank.
- Karcher Honda Pressure Washer 2400psi Low Pressure? Hello every one I have a Karcher Honda Pressure washer 2400psi, when every I pull the trigger the first time it works fine. Then when I take the vavle unloader and the end where the air filter is on the pump, it works after a while for only one trigger pull. What's wrong?
- Honda CRV 2000, what's wrong? Clutch system retains pressure? I have a problem with my clutch hydraulic system, the system keeps pressure each time you press the pedal, eventually the clutch remains pressed and the pedal stays very hard. If you open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, everything reset. But the problem is back again after less than an hour.
- Where does my idle air control valve coolant hoses conect to? So i have a 1994 Honda civic dx hatchback with a motor swap with a d16y7 from a 1996 honda civic my idle air control valve has a hose that has no where to connect to. I was wondering where do both coolant hoses connect to?
- Can a head gasket sealer fix combustion gases leaking into my cooling system? I have a 2005 Honda Civic that seems to be leaking combustion gases into the cooling system. No external leaks and no signs of oil in coolant, but the car would heat up after a good 30 min drive. Since the vehicle is old, I'm not sure if I want to get an expensive repair or seal it with a head gasket sealer (mainly because i'm not sure if it will actually fix, and if it is good long-term). Any ideas?
