Can an OBD scanner be used on a 1992 Honda Accord EX?

I'm having trouble with the check engine light coming on when I reach over 55 mph on the highway So I'm wondering if an OBD scanner can be used on this car being that it is. 1992 Thank you. Knowledgable answers will be preciated!

Your 1992 Honda Accord is OBD1 and not OBD2 so you can't use an OBD2 scanner. Some cars will accept an OBD1 scanner but I'm not sure about your Accord. You can however read the codes without a scanner on your Honda. The connector is on the right kick panel just below dash. Should be a two wire white connector for the engine TGM / computer. There will also be a blue connector there too that is for the TCM / transmission computer. Retrieve codes by placing a jumper wire in the connector end then turn on ignition and count flashes of the check engine lamp or the D4 indicator lamp depending on which computer your checking. You jump the two wires on the plug with a paperclip or wire, then count the flashes from the check engine light. Long flashes for the ten spot, short flashes for the single spot. Example: Three long flashes, followed by two short flashes, would be code #32.Can an OBD scanner be used on a 1992 Honda Accord EX

A couple of good answers so far. The full story is in the source, which is a pdf version of a manual that I bought once with three plastic tools for $35. Two were jumper tools and the third was a plastic screwdriver… Not my best bargain. Anyway, where it says to plug in the code reader it is a jumper (a paper clip is often used instead) as described in the other answers.
