Honda Accord 2009 Key problem?

I have a 2009 Honda Accord and the plastic case around the key began to crack and break. Now the metal piece of the actual key has gotten loose and so I went onto amazon and ordered a new key. It came with the outer shell and the metal key piece so all I need to do is put the button thing inside of it. There's one problem though: the metal key part of the new key isn't carved to fit the car's ignition or door.

I tried calling a nearby Honda dealer and they said that they would have to order a new key entirely but I don't want to spend money if I don't have to (and I doubt I do)
How can I fix my key?

Take your old and new key to a locksmith and have them do it.

Oh but for the American goal to live a cheap life that turns into nothing more like nightmares like this one. Honda makes keys and has software to minimize someone stealing cars. With these new electronic keys need to be replace, we just have to recognize that we must pay the price. I read your words and it is easy for someone to describe physical damage but the electronics inside is a different story. You went to Amazon (please capitalize all proper names) rather that to ask first at any Honda dealership. Now you have to return the purchase to Amazon for a credit or ask a locksmith IF what you propose will fix the issue. As to the not spending money you do not have to, may I ask, how many things in your room, car, home, body, etc. That are not essential for life? Decorations? Wants? Cute? The car, Sophia is a 2009, year first, Honda, brand next, Accord, model name next. But these cars have trim levels, as letters. LX or something like that. Next time, include all of the information in the correct sequence. There's my answer. Oh, you did not expect a blank key from a supplier to be cut to the ignition code of your car? How could that be possible? Your surprise is strange. Of course the metal part must be "cut" AND the electronic part must be matched to the car. Are you also aware of that aspect of electronic keys? This tells me you did not research this issue before you went cheap. Now, how much a year you spend on clothes and makeup?
