Honda accord improving torque, horsepower and mpg?

I have a 1996 honda accord v6 and runs great i get about 25+ mpg on highway and 17-18 in the city… This car runs great and picks up speed very well for a old module. But i want to improve my car horsepower and torque & maybe mpg if that is possible

I heard a performance chip does that job and is it true?

I have seen them on ebay for a ridiculous cheap price from 11-30 dollars is it a scam or something that people just not aware of?

also is it something that is expensive for a mechanic to put in and what is the pros and cons of performance chips?

Do you know any other suggestions to improve my torque, horsepower, and mpg?

With an increase on horsepower, mpg will suffer.

It's better to just leave it stock and keep it maintained.

The chips you see under $100 are a scam. A power programmer will cost over $450. Cars haven't used chips for decades. They sell you a resister you stick in the wiring to confuse a sensor.

I had a chip in my honda accord and I took it out for better mpg and it helped and I could even tell it was out. It wasn't an exspensive one. So you can buy one and try it's really on going to depend on the budget you have if you pay for something cheap that's how it's going to work.

Those eBay chips are a joke.

Power and torque come at a price, you have to push more air and fuel through the engine - so mileage will suffer.

Gentile driving will save you on gas, 60-65 instead of 70-75mph will save a good amount (if you can safely drive that speed).

With a modern engine, besides installing a supercharger, a chip is a good way to go. It's cheap, and easy to do. The downside is that you will need better grade of gas, and it probably won't pass a smog test.
