Honda grom 125 cc a good buy?
I'm looking for a reliable commuter. It has scooter gasmilage and price but is a motorcycle with a manual 4 speed instead of a CVT which is a huge plus imo. However the engine is air cooled not liquid. Will this be a reliable commuter? It has a 1 year unltd milage warrenty but I would hope it to last me quite a few years. Most quality scoots that are properly taken care of can easily hit 50k miles could I reasonably expect this out of this 125 cc grom? Most driving would be open highway (45-50) with some stop and go city traffic when I go to orlando. But 90% will be aprox 45. Bike hits 60-65 stock according to most reviews. Reliability is very important to me. This also fits well within my 4k budget.
Yea i don't know
If that tiny thing fits you then definitely go for it… Its a Honda = Bulletproof… I started on an 80's cub, crashed that thing into a parked car on my 3rd day on it… But guess what? It's engine started in few kicks right after the crash! Now thats BULLETPROOF!
In a tv show "Greatest Ever"… A guy put used vegetable oil in a Cub's crankcase, rode it like a maniac on London streets and if that wasn't enough… He threw that poor bike from the top of a building… But that thing started right up! They called it the greatest motorcycle in the world! Youtube it.
Well… It's Honda and it's Japanese, so it's reliable alright. I've also heard they're alot of fun! I'd prefer to keep it for city use however, if I personally owned one. Wouldn't really enjoy going on the highway with one.
It is good, as is *any* decent manufacturer. Dealer counts. Honda dealers are all over. The Grom is a "nice" bike, sporty look on scooter wheels, 4 speed, 1 year warranty. Has a about 11 bhp, same as my Vespa, and you can expect 60-65 mph. Most Hondas are not made in Japan, some are made in mainland China.
If you don't mind going 80 miles to talk to the dealer, a SYM Wolf 150 is a "real" motorcycle, 17" and 18" wheels, 5 speed, 2 year warranty, over 14bhp and will do 65+ mph easy, cost less, and is made in Taiwan. -- http://www.alliancepowersports.com/models/wolf_specs.html

- Should I buy a 08 Honda CBR 125 for 800$? I'm thinking this is a really good price for the bike I'm just worried I'm going to look funny on it because I'm 6'3 180 pounds. Also I feel like people make fun of guys on low cc bikes but I have never ridin a bike before and want to get into it cheap and upgrade to a bigger bike when I'm comfortable with it
