I'm i risking my car s life?
My honda accord coupe 2.4l 2004 EX
has one fan running and one fan off. It won't run but the car dose not overheat. I little while ago it had an overheating problem and it that seem to desaphere.
also my check engine light is on
can the fan be causing the check engine light?
and
is it okay to drive the car around for a week till i get my pay check and buy a new fan for it.
Yeah its ok to drive it around that way, especially in winter. Don't run the air conditioner and don't pull any trailers. If it's overheating DO NOT DRIVE IT!
The an is probably not causing the check engine light. Go to autozone (in the usa) and they will read the code for free. The fan problem is probably just the temperature switch.
If it overheats, you run of risk of damaging the head gaskets, which are not cheap to replace. Get the fan checked and replaced as soon as possible along with the CEL code. Most auto parts store will do a code check for free.
Only one fan runs when the engine reaches a temperature and the other fan runs when the A/C is on.
There's nothing wrong with the fan, it only runs with the A/C on. Get the CEL checked though.

You probably don't need a fan. The second fan is for the AC and only runs if the AC is turned on and running. Might never happen in the Winter so don't assume it's bad. Go to Advance Auto right away and get the codes read so you can ask another question about how to fix what's wrong. Write the actual code down, we need to know it. Telling us what a sales person thinks is wrong doesn't cut it. Radiator and AC condenser fans usually are not monitored by the CEL system.
The light can key you in to the full issue. A failed temp sensor could do it. On some systems, there are 2 of them.
It may beNORMAL for only ONE FAN TO WROK as the other one is used when the A/C is put on! TRY PUTTING ON the AC and then check yoru FUSES as well! If you can SPIN the immobille fan, it is NOT BAD then probably! It may NOT even work if it is TO COLD OUTSIDE and tghe A/C will jus NOT engage as a SAFETY feature in very cold weather! You may NOT really have a problem at AL here, but as this is an OLDER CAR go to a DIY CAR wash with a can of GUNK ORANGE and clean the space BEHIND the RADIATRO and in fo=ront of the A/C condesneer where LEAVES> INSECT PARTS, paper, leaves and FUZZ have accumulated for YEARS of use! Do thsi with eigne ON! You can do NO HARM ot anything! You may need a SREWDRIVER to acces this space!<<<CHEKC ENGINE is a DIFFERENT PROPBLEM! Take $20-40 to ANY OIL CHANGE PLACE andhave yoru THROTTLE BODY and ILDLE AIR CONTROL VAVLLE cleaned up[ to SHWORROM clean! This is the NUBMER ONE CAUSE of a CHCK ENGEIN LIGHT on most cars! It is TELLING you that the AIR/FUEl mixture is going off kilter! The CONVERTER can over heat or the O2 sensors can get FINICKY! The IAC adds MORE AIR as needed to make the CONVERTER run COOLLEST and kep teh O2 sensors QUIETED! GOOD LUCK and use ONLY OIL MEANT FOR HONDA ENGINES and NOT VALVOLINE atg any i=time HONDA has it's VERY OWN OIL at the dealerships that is MADE in JAPAN by ENEOS most of tghe time! OTHER OILS are AMSOIL for JAPANES engiens and TOTAL ENERGY OIL from Frnace! NEVER use a WAX BASE OIL like VALVOLINE< an oil thatg NO FACTORYANYWHERE wil use EVER! - What is the maximum speed my car and cruise at in terms of rpms for an indefinite period of time without risking problems? My car is a 2003 Honda Element with 4wd automatic. The car has 160 hp with 161 ft lbs of torque. It redlines at 6500 rpms. At want maximum RPM can this car sit at and still last me 300,000 to 400,000 miles? Can it cruise 4,000 rpms with no problems and still last me up to 300,000 - 400,000 miles or chances are it won't and it would overheat?

I'm attractive I got a nice smile and I'm outgoing. - What is the average life of a 4 cylinder car? Provided that all the maintenance is kept up to date. Mostly highway mileage. No heavy towing. Looking into getting a car in the near future. Honda Civic and Buick Encore are two of my choices.
