Serious questions for mechanics about my 2003 Honda Accord ex 4 cyl?
So I left my house and went to the gas station to get gas and I normally get mid range and I left the gas station and got on the highway. When I was on the highway and I started accelerating my whole car started shaking and was cutting out and my check engine light came on. So I exited and took an emergency route to get back home As soon as possible and tried to let the car idle and not give it much gas. I also noticed the car began shaking again after I came to a stop and started when I accelerated. Recently I had my hoses detach from my radiator and my car overheated and leaked out antifreeze. Since then its been smelling weird and then this happened today about 1-2 months after the hose incident. I really hope my engine isn't ruined someone who knows or has experienced this please help.
You can buy a cheap scan tool at a car parts store and read the trouble codes. Give us an update on what codes show up. Check the coolant (when the engine is cold) if it is milky. If it is, the head gasket might be blown. That would require an expensive repair.
Not enough information. There are so many different things that could cause that problem and, since you apparently know little to nothing about cars, any troubleshooting tips we might give you would probably be a waste of time. It could be something as bad as a blown head gasket, or as simple as water in the gasoline you bought. Pouring a can or two of dry gas into the tank might fix it.So check the oil level, the coolant level, and the condition of all belts and hoses (including vacuum hoses) first, to be sure nothing is wrong there that might have caused the issue, then try the dry gas. From there it's going to be a long list of things to check or test, so getting the OBD fault codes scanned from the ECU would be the best place to start.
Obd2 for code.
Its either bad coils and plugs or head gasket
Lol
Start by reading the codes.
Then get it recovered to a good mechanic
Scan it for codes.
But no one can tell you what happened or how serious the damage is, if any, based solely on your description of the events.
If you had this happen right after buying gas you need to take a gas sample in a mason jar. Then let it sit for 20 minutes to see if there's water on the bottom of the jar. It sounds like you got some bad gasoline.
It sounds like you got a dose of BAD gas more than anything else, or possibly some diesel. You didn't say how much you put in the tank.
Haven't the slightest idea about why your car is acting up, but WHY are you wasting your money on mid-range gasoline? Your car doesn't NEED mid range OR premium gas. It is designed to run on regular grade (85-87 octane) fuel. Any more than that is a STUPID WASTE OF MONEY.

- My cars (2003 Honda accord EX 4 cyl) RPM is really low when my car is idle and makes my car shake? When driving the RPM will also lock up or drop low randomly and make my car shake, like it doesn't want to go. Yesterday I was on the highway and the RPM was stuck barely above 2,000 when I was going almost 75-80 MPH which is usually at almost 3,000. It felt like my car didn't want to go much faster than that.
