Totaled my car hydroplaning
Well a couple days ago I was driving probably too fast around a curb and I hydroplaned and went off the road and through some trees and back into a ditch. There were no other people or cars involved, although apparently my car was pretty badly damaged, the insurance guy came to our house today and said my car was too damaged to reasonably fix so within 48 hours theyll tell us how much they can give us. I was wondering how much I should expect? I live in georgia and the car was a 2004 Honda accord i'm not sure exactly all the damage but I just need maybe an estimate to make me feel better?
What the insurance guy is telling you is that it will cost more to fix the car than the car is worth. That is what they mean by "too damaged to reasonably fix". This is what is called a "totaled" car. So what they will do is pay you the full value of the car. That is to say they will pay what it will cost to buy another used car of the same make and model year in the same condition, etc.
You can find the value of your car at KBB.com. Or Edmunds.com. This will give you a good idea of what is a fair price. Hopefully they will give you a little more. Whatever they offer you, you should ask for a little more.
After they pay you the money you can buy whatever car you want with the money our use it the money for whatever you want.
Look online and see what 2004 Honda Accords are selling for. How much they offer will depend on the cars pre-accident condition and mileage, but that's the "market value", which is approx what they should be paying you. Less deductable etc.
If they make a ridiculously low offer, ask them to show where you can buy a similar vehicle for that amount.
Look at the retail value of this rig, and thats what you will get.probly couple grand
- Will a car dealership work with me if I'm gonna lease a new car, while trading in the car I have, which has an outstanding loan against it? The car I have now has a loan against it which is worth more than the trade in value of the car by about $5000. If me and a family member were BOTH looking to lease a new car (so 2 new cars), does anyone know if a dealership will be working to work with me in any way? Also the cars looking to be leased are not high end or luxury cars, they d be coming from a dealership like Honda, Toyota, or Subaru.
- Can stock car parts of a newer car go into an older car? Have a 2011 suzuki sx4 not driveable. Driving around a 99 honda crv. is it possible to put the deck of the suzuki (already removed) and place into the crv? The speakers are the same size i'm thinking about those as well but is that much of an upgrade?; I can't find the power of the stock speakers to both cars. Thank you, I had a system in suzuki i removed wanting to put in my crv.
- Which car should be my first car? Both are used cars A 2000 Kia Sephia LS, 68,000 miles for $2,795 or a 2003 honda civic hybrid, 86,000 miles for $4,999 What do you think the cheapest would be for insurance & maintenance? Which is the safest?
- Where can I get a newer car with poor credit and trade in my current car? I have a 99 honda civic DX coupe, it's worth in KBB is about 1000 right now. I wanted to trade it in, and finance a newer civic at my local Honda dealer but with my credit a little low would that even work? I also wouldn't have a down payment besides my trade in
