Used 2006 Honda Accord EX-L?
Alright so I'm looking to buy a used car I have been looking at a great amount of cars for quite sometime now but i have found a really good one at least I think I have. Its a 2006 honda accord EX-L Automatic Transmission with 107,000 miles. This is the car I'm most serious about buying. I'm 18 do I'm ignorant about cars still and I don't live with my dad who is the person with the most knowledge on cars in my family and I'm stuck with my mom who has no knowledge about cars so I'm pretty much on my own on this one. Tomorrow I will be looking at the car and I just want some advice from someone older and wiser about cars specifically someone who knows a lot about accords i know the 2006-2007 models are unique which is why I want it but I want to know what I should look for when I go to check out the vehicle. Is there any problems that this model has been known to have? Is the mileage good for the year? If not what kind of problems may it experience once it has hit this amount of mileage? Overall anything I need to know please let me know. Also the car is selling for $5,900 is that a good price because I'm thinking of offering $5,500 is that a good idea or not? If so how should I make the offer? Thanks a lot in advance and sorry about all the questions I'm really serious about buying this car it will be my first car.
Since you don't know much about cars, you would be smart to have a professional mechanic look the car over before you buy. After you buy is too late because used cars are sold "as-is" which means you can't return the car and get your money back even if the seller lies to you about the car's condition, or even if it breaks down on your way home. Not getting this inspection is the biggest mistake inexperienced car buyers make. It'll cost you about $75-$100 but if it prevents you from making a much more expensive mistake, it's well worth it.
The price seems fair given the car's age and mileage. The most costly item I'd ask about is if the timing belt has been replaced yet. I believe the change interval on it is 105,000 miles for that particular car, but you can always call any Honda service department (at any Honda dealer) to verify that.
That service is fairly expensive and should also include changing the water pump and timing belt tensioner at the same time. Factor this in to the price you pay - get a quote from a local shop on the cost to do that service if it hasn't been done. If that timing belt breaks, the engine will be ruined so either plan to change it if it hasn't been changed yet or look for another car if you don't want a $750+ repair bill right after you buy the car to replace the timing belt etc.
And always know that you can have a mechanic inspect any used car for you (ask for a pre-purchase inspection, they'll know what you mean) before you decide whether to buy it. If you want an expert to tell you if anything major is wrong with the car, you can spend ~$100-$150 and have a mechanic do a comprehensive inspection for you. I always recommend it to people planning to spend a large portion of their savings or their monthly wages on a car.
It's a steal. Go get it before I find it and buy it. That's a $7000.00 car all day long.
Mileage is normal. It's 9 years old. Actually a bit low for the year.
Go get it. Quit fu(king around on the internet and go buy it. I wouldn't sell it to you for 5500, but it won't hurt to ask.
You couldn't have chosen a better car. Go… Right now. Don't stop for stoplights. What are you waiting for?
- Which is better Honda civic 2006 or vw Passat 2006? I'm getting a car soon and I can't decide which one. Which has better reputation, safety, which will last me longer? They're both in good shape. About 130,000 miles on both.
- Is it possible to trade in a used car for another used car? I bought a 2013 Toyota Yaris about 4 months ago. I bought mainly because it was cheap and fuel efficient. But I realized I don't really like. So I'm have buyers remorse. Is it possible to trade it in for another used car? I was thinking of getting a Honda Civic or a Volkswagen Jetta. How long should I wait to do the trade in?
- Buying used ATV Quad vs used? I'm trying to buy a atv quad a new one from 2014 a honda trx250x from a dealer is 4,500 out the door is that too high for the model and year? Or good deal?
