Water pump is making a noise?

So I did the timing belt and water pump and there was a strange noise, I took the whole car apart to find that the new water pumps bearing was making some noise. So I went and got a new one under warranty and I'm hearing this sound again. Is there some special way to install the water pump that I'm missing? Can over tightening it cause this issue? Is it because I bought a duralast water pump instead of a genuine Honda part? Its a 2006 V6 Honda Accord it doesn't over heat but I'd rather not find myself stranded since I drive 200 miles away on the weekend to see my girlfriend.

When the engine is dead cold, remove the serpentine belt. Start the car. Get an assistant to watch the temp gauge. Listen for any noise. Shut the engine after a quick observation. If noise is still present, it is not your water pump. If the noise disappears, check all the other accessories or drive to a professional mechanic and get the car looked at.

I bet you forgot the timing belt tensioner and pulley.

When you put a new water pump on you should always spin it by hand before putting the timing belt back on.
I've used many after market water pumps and have never had a problem with them.
Did you replace all of the timing belt bearings?
If it's a knocking noise you may have the belt tensioner set up wrong.

Hi so the bearing is just a carbon ring very easy to damage so yes you could have damaged it.

  • How can I stop water from flowing back into my Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet when the heavy duty hose attached gets blocked? I have a 1000l take of water attached to a Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet, alongside a heavy duty hose I use to water window boxes around London. When I park up the van and have to cross the road to water certain jobs, the pipe is occasionally temporarily blocked when a car runs over the hose pipe. This sends water back to the pump, and eventually breaks it. What can I do to stop the water/ pressure breaking the pump?
  • Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
  • Honda Jazz won't take water in the water fill cap? I recently purchased a Honda jazz 2005 mode from a garage, top condition. I'm going on a long journey tomorrow and routinely like I would with any car I checked the water and oil levels. (cold engine). Water level was halfway between min and max so I attempted to top it up with coolant mix, however, as in poured the h20/coolant mixture into the water tank it just came straight back up as though the tank was full, although I can see it's only half full. Any ideas?
