Can I tow a jet ski with a camry?
The jet ski i'm looking at is a 2005 Honda Aquatrax F-12X with a Triton single craft trailer.
My current vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L I4 with 114, XXX miles.
Jet ski and trailer together weigh 1,100lbs with a full tank of gas. Can my vehicle tow this jet ski? My house is about 23 miles from the boat ramp.
I might just have to pay to store the jet ski at my friends work that is 4 min and under 2 miles from the ramp.
Added (1). I just checked my owners manual and the towing capacity does say 2000lbs, but it also states that when you exceed 1000lbs that the trailer needs its own brakes.
Added (2). I don't want to buy another vehicle just to tow this, as it won't be towed a crazy amount, but I want to do what I can to help make sure it won't damage my vehicle or cause an accident. Would installing higher quality brakes and rotors help? Do I need a transmission cooler? I live in South Carolina so it does get pretty hot in the summer. I would already consider myself a safe driver.
Added (3). My main concern is getting the jet ski down the ramp into the water. I don't want to end up with my car under water.
Look in your owner's manual, what's the towing limit for the car?
Camry can tow 2,000lbs
I've also seen 2,204lbs quoted but that may just be a conversion of 1-Tonne
A new one, yes. An old car like yours? Not recommended, especially if you want it to last awhile longer.
"… 1,100lbs with a full tank of gas… Towing capacity does say 2000lbs… 1000lbs that the trailer needs its own brakes… "
The manual is "… More what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules."
Are you capable of figuring your brakes are not as capable as they used to be, and will drive slower and leave more space?
If so, no problem.
- What happens when you tow/drag a four wheeler while it's in reverse? I have a 2005 Honda Rancher 500 (I think) that a buddy of mine and I took riding on a mountain. Half way up the mountain the four wheeler got stuck in reverse (the electric shift on the steering doesn't work it has a foot shift) and while trying to get it out of reverse we accidentally broke the…
- Pilot jet unscrewed but stuck in carburetor? I'm rejetting my 2006 Honda Crf250x and I'm having trouble getting the Pilot jet out. It turns freely with a flat head screwdriver and if I tip the carb upside down it will fall partly out, but I can't get it to come all the way out even if I pull on it with a pair of tweezers. I can't take the float bowl off at the moment because the previous owners has mangled the heads of the screws. Does anyone know what the jet could be catching on or have any suggestions?
- Can a Honda Civic tow 1500 lbs? There's a link on google saying a Honda Civic(2014) can tow 1500 lbs. Is it possible? Any civic owners tow with their cars? I'm thinking about a light trailer to haul a lawn mower around.
- 98 Honda Civic Stopped in the road with flashing engine light and had to tow it home? My Civic stopped (169k miles) while driving and now won't start. When checking codes by OBD II scanner, it shows P303, P304, P300 and P1399 which is misfire. Any ideas, how should I go about diagnostics. As car is pretty old, not worth of taking to mechanic Thanks in advance. It was bad battery and bad wireset combination. Replaced both, car started as before.
