2008 honda civic lx coupe 2D

So i'm in the market for a first car, and came across this 2008 honda as mentioned in the title. It has 126,000 miles, and he put a link of kelley blue book that priced the car around 6800. Nothing wrong with the car, runs smooth and has been taken well care of by the owner. He has it as very good condition. Question is, are the miles to high? And what would be a good offer for the vehicle?

If the car has been serviced as outlined in the owners manual then the miles are not really too high. You can easily go 200,000 miles on a Civic with no major repairs if it is taken care of and not abused. As to the value of this car I will assume it is an automatic and does not have aluminum alloy wheels. If that is the case the retail value is around $9,000 and the wholesale will be around $6,850. So, $6,800 is a really low price. If it is a manual transmission car deduct $575 from these figures. If it has aluminum alloy wheels add $275 to these figures. Take a trusted mechanic with you to look the car over to make sure it is what he says it is. Do not trust the seller to tell you the truth. It may have been wrecked or it may be a car that was in a flood. The reason I say that is because if it were my car and was in excellent condition I would ask around $8,500 for it and be willing to take $8,000. It could be he just wants to sell it fast and it could be something is wrong. Pay a trusted mechanic to inspect this car thoroughly. That will be money well spent and prevent you from buying a money pit.
