2012 Honda Civic needs a oil change at 10,000. But I want to drive more than 10,000 to save money?

How many MORE miles can I drive while it's still safe for the engine to do so?

The oil is synthetic blend.

oil change every 5000 miles is very expensive and I'm a lower class. It would be better if I go over the limit.

Lol poor people and their logic…

Doesn't it make sense to do a $19 oil change every 5k rather than have your car break down on you in a couple years, forcing you to buy a new car and spend much more money than it would cost to do oil changes for the life of your car…

Get your oil changed!

It all depends.

Do you plan on keeping the car for more than a few months?

You can get a used engine with 50,000 miles for about $1000 and have it installed for about $500 (local junkyard and mechanic prices).

The couple bucks you save will be offset pretty fast when you have to replace the engine.

$6 for a filter and $20 for four quarts of oil is a lot cheaper than $1,500 for a new engine down the road.

Also, if you have the dealership replace the engine, looking at $4,000+.

Or, cheap out, save $10 every couple months and hope for the best.

I think that you will find your owners manual and your maintenance minder comes on around the 7500 mile mark, as does mine and it's a 2000 model. If mine with dino oil can go to 7500 miles, yours with synthetic can go at least that long, assuming your driving under what's regarded as normal driving conditions.

200 to 500 miles. Beyond that and it's guaranteed you're not going to save money. What you save by waiting will cost you in engine repairs later. And the engine costs will greatly outweigh what you saved by putting off changing the oil.

You've heard the term "Penny Wise and Dollar Poor', right? Synthetic Blend should be changed NOW for Full Synthetic, then you can do 12,000 mile changes. And use a WIX or other filter that costs at least $6. Nothing is more important to the life of your engine. It is the BLOOD that keeps it alive.

This is why you will always be poor: you are incapable of thinking past the next couple of days.

Save $40 a few times now to spend $4,000 later on a new engine… Sounds great!

God some people should not own a car or be on the road.

There are things you can fudge on when spending on a car upkeep however oil changes as specified is not recommended as car engines and labor costs are very expensive. I also never ever run worn out tires as they can get you killed and others as well. I highly recommend you follow the recommendations of your owners manual and your car will last you for hundreds of thousands of miles and hopefully with no breakdowns.
