2014 Honda Civic Si screeching noise (metal to metal) when car is in motion? Brakes?
I just bought a 2014 Honda Civic Si and racked up 14,000 miles. I'm now hearing a screeching (metal to metal) grind as the car is in motion. The car makes the noise when i'm in motion and in reverse. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the rear brakes are worn out. Keep in mind this is the first time I took my car to the shop for anything other than an oil change. They are charging me $160 to replace just the rear brake pads. Any thoughts as to if the noise is caused by the brakes and if so is it worth $160 (OEM Honda Pads), or a second opinion?
Some cars are designed so that a metal tab causes a noise when the brakes are worn to a particular point.
Too early for worn pads. Get it replaced.
No not Honda pads. But you need discs and pads as you've wrecked them with the metal on metal.

- What is the screeching sound from front tires? I have an 08 Honda Civic Ex. Every time i initially drive my front tires start to screech wile i'm driving. They stop making the screeching noise after i i start to break hard or pump breaks. No brake lights or check engine appear on my dash board. They make the noise while i'm driving straight.
- What is better a 2014 Honda Civic or 2014 Toyota Corolla? I'm looking at these cars in terms of price and more "bang for your buck." Both seem interesting to me and I have yet to test drive them. The Honda Civic seems like it is the better car based on reviews but the newly redesigned Toyota Corolla looks better than previous versions and is slightly cheaper than the Civic. Which one should I consider looking towards? Please do not mention any other car, I'm only focused on these two at the moment.

However, The fact that its a Coupe and it only has 179 horsepower that just throws it off right there. I like the honda civic si because it offers 4 doors and its looks nice.
