Do honda civic 2000 have catalytic converter?
OK I was wondering if the honda civic 2000 should have two oxygen sensors. But the problem is all the honda civics that are the same only have one and also doesn't have a catalytic converter. Is this a problem? I'm afraid this is the reason why the car wastes a lot of gas.
A 2000 should have a cat. Absence or presence of a cat should not affect fuel economy. If it is missing a necessary O2 sensor, then it should throw a fault code. Excessive fuel use on a 15 year old car could be many things. Check for a fuel leak. It would be a fire hazard.
Don't know where you are getting your information but you are wrong. Every single Honda built since the late 1970s has been equipped with a catalytic converter. Your 2000 Civic has a catalytic converter and 2 oxygen sensors. The primary O2 sensor is located near the oil filter. The secondary one is plugged into the top of the catalytic converter. If the converter is missing then someone has removed it. If so this is the very reason your car is using lots of gas and probably does not run correctly. First off it is illegal to remove the converter and if you do the engine will not run properly. Poor fuel mileage and a loss of power will be the result. Install a converter and then check the O2 sensors.
- 07 honda pilot catalytic converter Looking to buy this linked catalytic converter but i was wondering if it is capable. Amazon says yes but the comments mention a 02 sensor hole not being in this. Does a honda pilot have or need one with the hole or should this magnaflow universal be fine http://www.amazon.com/...001HMJSEY/
- How could I put a catalytic converter on a Honda civic 2000? OK this honda civic 2000 hatchback does not have a catalytic converter. Is there anyway I could get it new and installed without a problem? My car has a pipe instead of a catalytic converter and it I need it to put the oxygen sensor on it.
- Does a Honda civic 2000 waste more has without a catalytic converter? I have a Honda civic 2000 without a cat and has a pipe instead, it needs the secondary oxygen sensor. But I was wondering if the catalytic converter affects the gas usage an anyway?
- Can I separate a 2000 Honda Civic EX exhaust manifold from its catalytic converter? Just learned that I have a crack in the exhaust manifold of my 2000 Honda Civic EX. I could buy a new manifold with a attached catalytic converter for about $170 but could get a used manifold for $12. I would rather save myself the $100+ by just replacing the manifold. So my question is would I be able to separate the exhaust manifold from the catalytic converter, and switch in a functional but used one?
