How reliable are the 2016-2019 Honda Civics?

My girlfriend's 2005 Chevy Malibu is on its last legs and I told her to stop repairing that piece of junk. Transmission problems, oil leaks on the bottom of the car

mind you it is only 98 000 + Km. That is pretty low for that year at least.

I told her to get the Civic, and she is approved to get the Civic EX 2018. She says it looks good, but is it reliable? We see a lot of people drive it on the road a lot everyday. Would buying the touring or Hatchback model be more reliable than the EX?

The 2018 is still under warranty for the nxt two years so there's that. Hondas are pretty reliable. As any car, don't neglect the servicing.

There's a problem potentially very severe with that engine and I'm very surprised to see that with Honda. Take a look at a Corolla, Lookit

I always use Edmunds.com

Honda Civics are very reliable vehicles. Do some research online. The engines may be the same.

Yes its very reliable, its a Civic

Civics are just coming out of my ten year "don't buy new" quarantine, triggered by the cracking engine blocks of 2006. Honda has done fairly well in the last decade (after the 2007 Accord brake fiasco) but I wonder if it is a "kaisen" philosophy at work or if they have just winged it. Honda has a long history of letting serious problems, like the Great Honda Automatic Transmission Debacle of 1998-2004, become its customer's problems.

Almost nobody had heard of drive axles breaking when an asker asked about it happening to her CR-V, and it doesn't happen to most vehicles. They use tubular drive axles. Honda has fallen in love with rod style drive axles for its lower unsprung weight (better ride). The problem is they have developed a habit of breaking, leaving the vehicle stranded. I'm not a Honda fan any more.

IMHO, if you want reliability, look to Toyota rather than Honda. Still not 100% but a lot better than Honda has done.

Aren't you going to go on and on about the LED lights again?

And are you going to ask this question another 65 times?

Honda is more reliaable than any american made car
make sure that it hasn't been in an accident and has all of the services done by a reputable service center

  • 2016 MINI Cooper Hardtop 4 Door or 2016 Honda Fit for first car? I love cute and comfy. Mostly just to get to and from work at Disney, but I'm also a big traveler so would love something comfy and cozy that sort of resembles my personality (I know- I'm cheesy) I know nothing about cars and this will be my first! I'm 19 and have waited to get my license for way too long so I'm working on it in Driving 101 and should take the test next month!
  • Should I get a 2016 Honda CR-V EX AWD or a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek 2.1i Limited? I'm trying to decide between the two. They are both the same price at my dealers. I'm probably going to end up moving to Colorado but I don't think I will go off road at all. Which of these is the better car? Which do you think will last longer?
  • Which car is better, the 2016 Honda Civic EX-T or the 2016 Mazda 6 i sport? I'm getting a new car next month, and my choices have been cut down to these two cars. I'm having difficulty deciding. Which one is better? Please list spec differences (exterior and interior) as well as the reasoning behind your decision.
  • Which car is better 2016 Honda Civic coupe or 2016 Hyundai Genesis coupe? I'm looking for a new car and these two are the only cars that fit my budge as a sporty car. The Honda Civic has a v cylinder engin and Genesis has v6. Civic offers Apple car play whereas Genesis does not… They both have many pors and cons to them and I can't decide which one is better and worthwhile… Please I need opinions!
