My 98 Honda Civic has OBD II code P1337?

Check engine light was on when I bought car off friend of mine. Only one code popped up on the OBD2 code reader of mine… It says """""""""""" P1337 Manufacture Controlled System or Misfire""""""""""""."i did some homework on it and was wondering if it truly is the Crankshaft position sensor?

will replacing the sensor with a new one take off check engine light? I been hearing that if it was the crankshaft itself my car will run like crap, and if it was the whole sensor itself the car would have trouble starting but my car has NEITHER… Runs great and starts up well. Could it just be a bad ground or something from the sensor being that its a "Manufacture" thing?

PS I don't have manual

All you need is to buy a cheap DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter) from Auto Zone, Advance auto part stores to check for resistance between pins 1 and 3 (1.6-3.2k ohms) if its not that then replace the CKF sensor.

This is where the sensor located. You'll have to remove a few things including the timing cover, crank pulley etc to get to the sensor. This picture will help: Oil, coolant on the sensor or dirty sensor tip could trigger the code as well:

This video will help to see what you'll have to do. This is for T-belt replacement:

This is what the CKF sensor look like, make sure check with Honda about the correct part number:

Then check for ground from pin 1 and ground from pin 3 (Not the middle one) of the CKF sensor (it should be open when you check between the pins and body ground) if there's continuity, then replace the CKF sensor

Then measure resistance between c1 and c11(harness side) if there isn't 1.6-3.2k ohms then fix your open wire.

Then check for ground from c1(harness side) to body ground, if there's conintuity then fix the short.

This link contains all wiring diagrams for the vehicle. Diagram for the CKF sensor is #3:
