Why are basic features so expensive on luxury cars?
For example, I, as a commuting college student, have a 2014 Honda Civic Si (a $20k compact fuel efficient sedan). Standard features include backup camera, phone hook up with Pandora radio, and pretty much any other phone features, including text response. Multimedia screen that you can customize (You can change the entire dash light color and style). And a lot of other cool stuff, like push button start. However, my mom, who just bought a car that had a sticker price of close to $75k before options, didn't have any of this stuff. Just the option for phone hook up and multimedia functions was close to $3k. And then it was like another $1k just for the push button start. In the end, she spent almost $6k just on options which come standard on a Honda Civic. This gets me wondering, why are companies like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi charging an arm and a leg for options which come standard on such basic cars? Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing them, I'm in the process of buying a 2010 BMW M3 and already have a classic BMW 3.0csi, I just don't get why they charge so much. The technology in my mom's car doesn't seem that much more advanced or to work better than mine. Can anyone explain this to me?
I just think its a brand thing because they are known to be quiet expensive they seem to just think they can charge a lot more i mean i have a 07 bmw but my mates honda accord 08 is pretty well equiped i prefer it sometimes
Because the extras in your mums car are going to be much higher quality then the cheap ones in yours, also they get installed with much better workmanship than yours. Start pulling the dash apart and you will see great differences in set up and wiring etc…
- Why does it appear used cars are more expensive than new? For example. I'm looking at a 2019 Honda City, new it's $17,990 drive away if I look on car sales the 2017 model is even $19,000. Ok the 2019 is a manual price but that's a huge difference and 2 years on. Please tell me what I'm missing?
- Which brands of cars are more reliable and less expensive to maintain? I have been driving American cars, Honda, Toyota and they're easy to find parts when something go wrong. I would like to buy a Volkswagen beetle or a European car. Like 2004 or 2003 Volkswagen beetle. If something go wrong, does it cost more to fix it? Is maintenance more expensive than a Honda or a Toyota yaris. I know the Honda and Toyota last forever after a few hundred thousand miles and they re still in excellent running condition with regular services. What do you guys think?
- Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
- Is it better to sell Cheap cars or Expensive cars? As a car salesman? Some people would think cheap cars but people with bad credit get declined often. I know this because my credit sucks and i'm almost always declined for cars. I'm sure this makes it tougher to get a sale right? This has me thinking, i want to sell cars. Should selling luxury cars like mercedes and bmw be better than selling hondas and toyotas?
