Why won't my dashboard and tail lights turn on?

I have a 05 honda civic and my dashboard and tail lights will not turn on, a mechanic rewired everything and I still keep having the same problem. Can anyone tell me how this can be fixed?

Take it back to the "mechanic" who "rewired everything," and have him/her FIX IT!

1st thing you should do is check the fuses. If fuses are good, get a test light, disconnect wiring harness from taillight switch, and see if you're getting power to the wiring harness. If you're not getting power, the slot where the fuse plugs into is loose or corroded preventing good contact between the fuse and panel terminal or the wiring harness between fuse and switch has a open or short. If you do have power, reconnect the harness back into switch. Now turn the taillight switch on, disconnect the wiring harness from the taillight, check for power with test light. If you don't have power, the taillight switch is defective. If you do have power, the bulbs are blown, the bulb socket has corrosion preventing it and the bulb from making good contact. If the brake light, taillight, reverse lights, and turn signal bulbs are all mounted in one housing with numerous sockets vs each bulb bein mounted in a separate socket with its own wiring harness, the housing assembly is probably defective.
