How long can you drive on a donut tire?

Look I really need a number of miles i can go. I've heard 500 and 1000 miles. I'm driving on a new donut on the back right tire in a 08 honda crv. I'm going 45mph or less at all times. Drive on paved roads.

Not long! Mine fell off on the I-295 back in August! They are only good enough to get to the garage for a replacement! Don't chance it!

How about just looking at the spare to see when you burn all the tread off?

Most are rated at 50 to 75 miles, max, at a speed no greater than 50 MPH. Anything over 100 miles would be asking for major trouble.

The specs on the space-saver tyres say 80kph max for max of 80km. They are not made for driving big distances, and also are very expensive to replace compared to a normal tyre

To the next tire store. That is how far you can drive. Anything else is up to you.

As little as possible.

It has less to do with how far the donut spare can go, and more to do with the fact that even at 45, something might happen that requires you to brake or maneuver quickly.

Someone's life might depend on it - including yours.

50 miles @ 45MPH is stamped in the owner's manual. So basically to a tire repair shop to fix the stock tire. HONDA really blew it, by tossing in that junk. They did not allow space for a regular tire. I got winters so could have tossed a winter in the spare tire carrier depression except it is not deep enough. Idiots.
By 2010, they got rid of the doughnut tire and replaced it with an aerosol can of foam as the repair kit for the spare tire. That is even more of a joke.

Not all highways are free of bolts, screws, screwdriver bits and broken glass. Twice I got the screwdriver bit on 2 very remote highways out in the boonies. VW Type 3 stationwagon both times and both times a rear tire. Same stupid 3" bit… And well over 300 miles from the nearest garage.
Just saying HONDA did not think this out very well.
