Need advice on a price quote for a 2018 Honda CRV Touring AWD?

A Honda salesman is selling me a new 2018 Honda CR-V Touring AWD with body side moldings, splash guards, wheel locks, cargo tray and nitrogen for the out-the-door price of $36,141. The MSRP is $35,025 for the vehicle. The price of the car is $37,114 with the added equipment, dealer fee is $599, the rest is applicable tax (Florida) and tag. Transfer is $193. I also have a 2013 VW Golf TDI trade-in with an odometer of 17,600 miles that they appraised as $12,000, but still have payments on it worth $8,600.

Do you think think the price of $36,141 is a fair price? This is my first time buying a brand new vehicle. Thanks in advanced for the advice.

Added (1). Additionally, they said they can knock $500 off if I finance through Honda. Thanks again.

Added (2). Just wanted to add… The reason I'm getting a new vehicle and an SUV is because I got married a year ago and we're a family of three

Added (3). I just wanted to add that I haven't bought the vehicle yet. This is merely a price quote from the dealer

Too much money by 2 grand. Big whoop on the nitrogen, Not impressed since you and I breath 78% on a daily basis.

Is the $36,141 is a fair price?
It means that you paid exactly what the dealer is asking. No discounts, no whelling and deallng. So I guess you could call it a "fair" price but not a good price.

MSRP is the "most" anyone should pay.

A "FAIR" price is one where the buyer and the seller are both satisfied with the deal. Personally, I wouldn't pay anything for all those dealer installed extras. They add nothing to the value of the car, and the ONLY reason to install them is to increase the dealer's profits.

Stay clear of a brand new motor unless you have money to burn… You ask for advice yet fail to tell us the important factors .ie. How much per month. How many months… Interest rates etc etc… You have NOT been offered enough for your car… So adding up as i see it. The moment its second hand thats the first day of ownership it loses a shed full of money. Then the interest charges .low price on your car… And the car depreciates every week… If i had a choice i would stick with the golf…

No idea

Is it a fair deal to you? Or can you get a better deal at a DIFFERENT HONDA CAR LOT? Different sales man, nearer to the end of the month shopping. Bet you the numbers will be DIFFERENT. You are buying an "in demand" vehicle and trying to get rid of a vehicle that is not so "in demand, still suffering from Dieselgate". Your car value will not depreciate that much on the VW if you wait 15 days and then start looking in another lot with a different salesperson.

Contact the internet sales manager and make a better deal. Eff the nitrogen- that's not worth spit. The air we breathe is mostly nitrogen. Maybe they will comp you a better maintenance package it they can't drop the price. You'll get beat every time on a trade-in, and it's not your car to trade anyway. Sell it privately. Ron is telling you something you need to pay attention to. Maybe you don't need awd, or do you?

All those "extras" you mentioned are practically worthless over-priced high-profit items for the dealer. Plus you paid full MSRP price (or more) for the vehicle. If you had gone to Truecar.com or Edmunds.com and found out what others are paying, you would realize that nobody pays full price for a car.

You got suckered in the Finance Manager's office, as do most inexperienced buyers. The good news is that the $4000 difference between your trade value and your outstanding loan on the VW will be applied to your new car as a down payment.

Get some cheaper

You have the ability to get as much as $2,017 of MSRP of a Touring trim level 2018 Honda CR-V. Or I should say, that's the going rate and that is what you should offer. Others have been successful in doing so.
