How expensive is maintenance for an audi a4? Thinking of getting one as my first car?
I'm 21 and have plenty of money for NOW (25k due to a settlement). My question is would it be downright stupid? I want a nice car and for -7k it seems like a really good option I'm just worried insurance and maintenance would **** on my face. If it is a bad choice are there any similar alternatives?
Added (1). Before I even started looking at cars I wanted an eclipse. If it would be considerably cheaper to maintain I'm all for that but I simply won't drive a honda lol they're way too boring for me.
Yes it would, they are not reliable and very expensive to drive.
Look, I'll give you some solid advice. Don't spend your money on something that losses value. A car is the single worst investment you will buy. If you are going to buy a 7k car, buy a Honda. It will last forever and the value will not decline as quickly. Make sure you get the 4 cylinder motor, they can go 200k miles. I know you got some money and being 21, it's hard to keep… But buying a cheap Honda or Toyota can help you keep the remainder of your money and less visits to the mechanic. The only cars that don't lose value are classics… But they will cost money to repair and won't be very reliable. You have places to go, get something that will get you there and not something to flash…
German cars, especially luxury ones such as this Audi, are generally much more expensive to maintain than other cars. If you are just living off your settlement and don't have other income, I would not recommend getting an A4. No one can predict how much you'll need to repair, but you will regret it come repair time unless you can afford it.
Until you have steady income to support it, just get a cheap domestic (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) or Asian (Toyota, Honda, Hyundai) car. They are much cheaper to repair, when the time comes.
If your buying it brand new you should have at least 3 years anyway before it needs an MOT (that's if your in the UK).
The most expensive parts of cars seem to be the computer systems, as they can be quite tricky when they go wrong to find where the fault is, plus main dealers will charge you an arm and a leg just to plug on in (of course you can just buy a code reader from the internet much cheaper and then search the codes when something goes wrong).
Also your other main cost is insurance - if your in a country like the UK that requires you to have vehicle insurance have you seen the cost of insuring an Audi A4 as a new driver, it's likely to be quite high and I presume you don't have any no claims bonus yet.
- Is the honda cbr 500 a good first bike and how expensive is the insurance and cost? Ok i'm 20 ans iv always wanted to ride a motorcycle ever since i was little and now i have a full time job and want to ride. I heard about the 250s but i know that id be tired of it after like 4 to 5 months while riding. I was thinking of the honda cbr500 i'm 5'9 155 pounds. Also how much would insurance cost and the paynents per month i may put 1000 down but i'm not sure i just want to have a decent amount of pay per month not too much
- I'm thinking about getting this kit? I've been wanting to build my honda trx70 beginners sport quad for racing for awhile now. I want to get the 110 kit for it, but i'm not sure if the transmission is going to handle that. And if the 110 kit will burn it up, is the 88 kit worth the money for the small amount of power increase? BTW it is a 4 stroke engine, 100% stock right now
- I was thinking about getting a crossover? Honda cr-v or nissan rogue. I need a good car that is reliable. I have heard that the CR-V is better than the Rogue. Any thoughts?
- What car looks cool (semi-sporty, sleek) but not too expensive? This will be my first car I like the Honda Civic Is, but that only comes in manual transmission, and it is a little too sporty looking. Are there any sedans (I'm hesitant for a coupe, but if you know of one, please list it. *Honda Civic Si, not "Is". Also I think the rear of the SI is too sporty, not the body
