Hyundai Low resale value?

Why do Hyundai/Kia have such low resale value? They have nice warranties from what I can see and the reliability has gotten a whole lot better compared to 10 or so years ago. (A little better under Toyota and Honda better)

I can find a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS in my area for less than $9,000!

Do people still think these cars are poorly made still?

How many kias from the 90s have you seen? Iv seen none but I see tons of Buicks, toyotas, pontiacs, fords, chevys and dodges but no hyundais or kias same goes for early 2000s there resale value is terrible because they aren't as reliable as most modern cars Chevy makes sure all their cars will make it to at least 200k Kia puts a car together drives it 10 k and says it's good! That's literally all they do

Tim is correct. Kia and Hyundai are cheaply made S Korean cars. They are typically good for 100k at most before they start to become high maintenance nightmares. I also have friends who are mechanics ones that do body work. The bodies on those cars use thinner metal, and cheap thin paint. They are built as short term "disposable" type vehicles and impractical to keep repairing as they age.

I have known MANY Kia and Hyundai owners. One swears if he ever wins the lottery, he is putting a warning billboard across from the local Kia dealer.

They are poorly made. Just this week South Korean Government forced a recall of many of their cars.
If properly maintained they can go the distance. My girl has a 06 Rio with 156k that runs fine.
I take exceptional care of it and leave nothing to boneheads at a garage.

Because the initial price is way above what they are worth.
