Is $715 reasonable for my repair?
Due to my tires wearing out faster than usual on my 97 Honda Prelude my mechanic is going to charge me $715 for a wheel alignment, replace my inner tie rods and installing adjustable ball joints. For the price of an wheel alignment is $80 and the ball joints they are ordering are around $100 apiece the inner tie rod price I'm not sure but I assume there about $30 each one. So I'm basically getting charged $400 in labor? Is this right?
Ball joints by themselves would be anywhere from 200 to 400 so yes most likely reasonable
My gosh… All that work and it's only 18 years old. They just don't build 'em the way they used to.
Labor guide shows 1.9 hrs per side just to replace the ball joints. Add in the alignment and tie rod ends and it looks like you're getting a sweet deal.
Stpaulguy has a good point as replacing ball joints is a big job and priced to match.
You *may* want to get a second opinion - and that will come with (at least) the cost of an alignment as the tech *should* be checking the ball joints. Tie rods, and All the suspension components for wear and looseness *before* doing an alignment. (no point to aligning a car with worn/loose parts - waste of $$$)
You didn't say how many miles, if the ball joints have ever been replaced before, etc - so hard to judge if this wear is "premature" or normal. Some ball joints will go for 100,000+ miles. Same with tie rod ends.
- I need to find a part for my Honda ex1000 generator. I can't seem to find a part for a reasonable price or even the right part I have a Honda Generator and I need to buy a carburetor. I can find a lot of different ones online but I only find One for the Model I have. It is 80 bucks. I see a lot that look the same and I would like to know how to find one that is cheaper. I have looked for hours and can't find one that is cheap like the others. The part number is 16100-ZC0-015. Does anyone know how I can find a variety to choose from or do I need to get the honda brand carb?
- What would be a reasonable amount to offer below the sticker price of a Honda Civic sedan? In other words, if the sticker price is $21,000, what is the LEAST the dealer would be likely to accept?
- What's a reasonable price for a used 2010 Honda Accord? It's been in a few minor accidents but it's been fully repaired nonetheless. It has 30,000 miles. It has cruise control, automatic transmission, automatic locks and windows. It's red with a beige colored interior and fabric seats. The seats have hardly been sat on which makes them look fairly new. There aren't any stains or rips on the fabric either.
- What's a reasonable cost for a break line fix on a 96 Honda Accord? I have a 96 Honda Accord that has a pinhole in one of my rear break lines. How much would the part be to replace the line, and how long would it take a mechanic to fix it? I prefer to shop locally, so I would like to go to a mom and pop repair shop. What would be a reasonable estimate to replace just the faulty line, and what would be reasonable it I just replaced both back lines, just in case?
