Is it normal for someone to still drive a 20-year-old car?

I still see dozens of 20-year-old Hondas and Toyotas every day. Is it a Japanese car thing to last that long or is it normal? I want to get a 20-year-old car soon.

Some people can't afford more modern cars and are stuck with buying older versions. Others keep them because it was probably passed down from another member of the family, and holds sentimental reasons for him/her to keep it. It's pretty much up to the driver and his/her preference in what they want to drive. But it is very normal.

I drive a 1970 chevy pickup daily. That is 44 years old and it runs great. The normal part is questionable.

I own a 1991 Ford Bronco that I drove daily until just recently.

I tend to drive my vehicles until they start nickle and diming me. Why get rid of something that works? Besides, I hate car payments.

Older gets better gas mileage. Wonder why?

Yeah it doesn't matter

Why don't you take a guess! Its the owner of the vehicle and how theyve abused it. Some people arent meant to have working indoor plumbing, some people are destined to own pos cars. I've seen people drive a car into the ground and refuse to pay for it claiming it was junk.it wasn't junk till they drove it lmao.

  • How can I negotiate a 2 year old car model? I'm in the market to buy a new car but I saw the new 2018 Honda Fit are out. I also saw the dealership had a 2016 Honda Fit LX, it is priced at 16k. If a new 2018 Honda Fit with Honda sensing standard starts at 16k, how much should I even get a 2016 base model with no Honda sensing? I know 16k for a 2 year old Model is crazy but what's the lowest can I negotiate for? 10k? 12k?
  • Why should someone living in section 8 drive a brand new Mercedes Benz SUV? Some people do not qualify for government assistance and drive a 2009 Honda civic and work 2 jobs. The one driving the Benz said she has no insurance and now she wants the city to buy her a new car since her vehicle got damaged by flood. Why should taxpayers pay for her and also for her to buy a new luxury suv?
