2006 Honda cbr1000rr? - 1

The oil change could be so simple, but the oil plug is stripped and stuck. What can I do

Get an "easy out." It is a drill bit with a reverse twist. You need a drill with a reversing feature. Get them at any hardware store. Run the drill bit into the damaged plug and it will come out.

Have it drilled out and a helicoil inserted so that a new plug can be fitted. You will have to take it to a dealer for this repair.

Not easy, you may deposit metal particles( swarf) into the oil, get an expert to extract the plug and rethread the hole

Curse the ham-fisted fool who stripped it and take it to a reliable mechanic.

You can turn it but it won't back out? If so, you'll need a small screwdriver or chisel to get behind the head and pry on it while you're turning it slowly. You may be able to find an oversized self tapping drain plug at a parts store. Bring the plug with you.

Helicoil it. You may have to remove the sump to be able to drill out the old thread and drill the pilot hole straight.

Grab it with ViceGrips and pull while extracting. The threads Might be ok in the sump (doubtful as Aluminum.). You may need a chisel. Tap it oversize and replace w/oversize plug, or replace it with an oversize, or get an oversize self-tapping plug kit from a car parts place or ACE. Or, helicoil. Flush the sump with kerosene before adding Fresh oil. Replace oil filter if it has one, too.

Check with local Honda dealer service and parts counter- likely a part number for a 1/2 mm oversized self tapping plug. Dennis Kirk Catalog had some 'stripped thread' repair drain plugs awhile back, various makes including Honda, Dorman specialty hardware parts catalog had car and motorcycle drain plugs with 'cutting' threads. Honda Car dealers sometime have the rubber plugs for stripped pans and one size was speced for Honda 750 as well as Civic in selection box. Rubber plug for $1.95 or new pan for $299.95- check oil some more, don't worry about couple drops of oil underneath.

  • My 2006 Honda Metropolitan Moped is not running right? When I slowly give my moped gas it runs fine until I hit about full throttle, then it like starts to bog down, its hard to explain but we think its a carburetor problem. Due to the previous owner taking off then air cleaner for an unknown amount of time. If you can give me tips/advice I'd appreciate it.
  • I have just changed the battery in my honda cbr1000rr after one month and it not firing up? It a honda cbr1000rr 2008 model. • Honda CBR1000rr Vs Suzuki Hyabusa? So I'm looking into getting a sport bike and have narrowed it down to the CBR or the Hayabusa, they both look like great bikes and I really don't have that much knowledge aside from rididng and stunts. So I have a few questions, which bike is easier to wheelie, which one is a smoother ride, which has better handling, which one is more comfortable, and finally which one has better acceleration? Thanks in advance to all you motorcycle lovers!
  • Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Repsol? I'd like to buy a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Repsol. The problem is I'm a girl and I'm only 1.60 meters tall and I'm skinny. Is it too heavy for me? And could I use it to go on holiday or just for the city? Or is it just for specific tracks?
