Are there any automatic street bikes?

I want to get into riding again. But I don't really want to have to shift to start off. I know of the the Honda VRF1200F but was wondering if there were any others. Or any bikes that have the dual clutch transmission, that would be nice to have so I could learn at my own pace but also have the automatic option. I want an attractive street bike, something along the lines of the Kawasaki Ninjas, and those bikes.

Just learn to shift. Though there are a couple of automatics you end up dramatically limiting your choices due to an inability to pull in a clutch lever.

What are you… Like 12 years old? Motorcycles are NOT "attractive". They are INSTANT DEATH MACHINES. If you want something attractive, go find a girlfriend. If you can't deal with a clutch, then keep riding your bicycle.

Take the MSF Basic Ridercourse Class -- they can teach you clutch and shifting in a few minutes. If you are lazy, you can get a "twist-and-go" super scooter.

If all you care about is looking "attractive" you can die. I don't care.

You are better off to learn the clutch because half of your braking power on a bike is in the appropriate use of the downshift. As a rider that has carried my "M" endorsement on my DL for over 25 years, I can tell you that the rapid use of gears on a bike can save your life. Getting on the brakes hard at 80 MPH in a crunch with high cross winds will get you killed if you are a novice rider.

I recommend a maxi or multipurpose scooter like the bmw C-650 or Kymco 700, burgman 650 etc. Capable of 100mph + automatic, great wind protection if you can accept the fact that it isn't as cool as a motorcycle. I'm an ex-mc rider.

I believe honda offers automatic on the NC700x.

"I want to get into riding again." - So this implies that you used to ride?

I honestly do not know how you would forget to shift. I mean it isn't a difficult concept, and one that hasn't changed in the last uh…60+ years?

Go take an MSF course if you are unsure of yourself. We had people from 19 to 65 in the class I took, and everyone figured out shifting within the first 30-40min. So if a 65yr old retired guy who never got on a bike before can figure it out? I'm sure you can to. If you can't, stay off a motorcycle, it isn't for you.

Go get a scooter if you want automatic.

Honda currently makes a motorcycle with an automatic. I think it looks good. It is just under 700cc so should also be good for the beginner.

Hi, I don't know about automatic street bikes but if your that scared you probably shouldn't be riding. It makes riding scary for the rest of us. Try something small, like a 600cc it's what they use in motorcycle courses. What you could do is take the course to see if you're comfortable riding. Obviously they only pass you if your capable of riding on your own.

  • Honda Amaze automatic or Hyundai Xcent automatic? Which would be better purely in terms of performance, acceleration, smooth and fast gearshifts and handling, i mean the better drivers car. I know hondas transmission and engines are great, but is the hyundai as good too? Even though the xcent has only 4 gears, i.e. 1 less than the amaze, it has tiptronic, would this by any chance improve the driving experience? I sadly don't have the opportunity to test drive these cars.
  • Help on automatic transmission, tips and tricks from any car experts? Hello I'm new to driving and was hoping if someone could give me insight. My honda is automatic and has 3 gears. Drive, second, and low. I know low is the highest gear because it increases rpm much faster than drive. My question is, when am I supposed to use something other than drive? Any tricks or hints? When I merge onto the freeway, do I go in second gear, accelerate the. Drop down to drive? Please any tricks will be greatly appreciated
