Motorcycle no lights/start after wash?
I have a 1981 Honda custom 500. Sprayed it at the car wash got it home, no lights and completely dead, won't turn over, charged battery and still nothing. Possibly bad regulator?
Put it in the sun if you can! Just give it time to dry out before you start trying to fix it. I have had this problem before. It will be fine once it dries out. May only take an hour or two, at the most a day!
Opps they are not built to spray off with a high pressure washer. You probably ruined some of the electronics. Give it time to dry out on its own and then try to start it. A bike you need to hand wash with very low water pressure. I had a new 81 custom 900 back in the day best and fastest bike i have ever owned.
Well since you got it home, everything was working for a short period of time. My guess is you got some water in the electrical system and shorted it out.
So either you get to trailer it to a shop, or get out a voltmeter and start tracing around the wires to find the short.
No doubt you got water somewhere, and at some point shorted the system out. If the whole system is "dead", you probably have some blown fuses.
However you dry out the system, check your fuses. IF any of them are blown, the circuit will STILL be open (dried out or not). And NOT work until the fuse(s) are replaced. Hope that helped.

- 2007 Honda rebel won't start lights don't work? So I left the key turned for a few hours and the battery died. I got it charged and checked and everything shows as being good. My roommate tried jump starting it when I went to work so I don't know if that hurt something. All the fuses are good. However when I turn the key the bikes lights don't come on, nothing works. I can put it in first and the get a running start to crank it by popping the clutch. That works for day time riding, but at night the lights are dim. Any ideas?
