Smaller sprocket on a dirt bike?
I have a Honda crf100f and it goes fairly fast but i want it to go faster. People have been telling me to put a smaller sprocket on the back. And i would like my bike to be like the 2 strokes and 450s where if you give them enough gas they wheelie on their own. Will switching to a smaller back sprocket allow my bike to wheelie on its own?
Less likely to wheelie with a smaller rear sprocket and you will gain, at the most, only about 7% increase in top-speed. The bike will move-out slower in each gear and make hill-climbing more difficult.
It's only a 100cc 4-stroke and Can't do power-wheelies like a 2-stroke or a 450, it's just not possible due to the power/torque factor and yours and the bike's weight.
Added- That 7% increase means that instead of doing 50MPH in top-gear you would be doing 52.5MPH in top-gear. WOW! That Way faster!
If you switch to a dinner plate sized rear sprocket you would be permanently on your back wheel.
A smaller one means a marginal increase in top speed, but it will accelerate slower (acceleration is what you need for wheelies).
There's a difference between quick and fast.
A smaller rear sprocket will give it more top speed, but less torque will be transmitted to the ground. It will be less likely to wheelie in that case.

- Running a VIN check on a dirt bike in Australia? So I was considering running a VIN check on my dirt bike, which is a 00' Honda Cr250 (un-registerable). I'm in Australia and I'm not sure where to go to get this check done as this bike would not have any registration history. Ideas? Help? Much appreciated as i'm just trying to find out my bikes past & possibly the first owner.
