What's high miles for a honda cx500 motorcycle?
I'm looking at buying an 1986 honda cx500 motorcycle from a friend for $600 he said it runs great and shifts smooth.
It has 35,000 miles on it. Is that alot for a bike?
I have one with 78,000 miles on it. They are like a car, they go a long way. However, as do most---- the alternator windings fail and you have to pull the engine out of the frame to get to the alternator. That's why mine has been sitting for several years------ plus my area is full of deer standing around in the roadway at night! Deadly.
If well maintained, they usually go on for a long time. They're not that hard to fix if anything does go wrong, either. The only 'special tool' I needed for mine when I took it apart to replace a broken cam chain guide was a flywheel puller - and a £2 bolt of the right size, pitch and thread did the job just fine.
Plastic maggots were a favourite of despatch riders, they go on forever if given minimal maintenance, until the alternator goes - replacement is a full engine out job.
If maintained properly the motor on a CX is usually good for a 100,000 miles.
Had a 500 & a 650 loved both. The 500 is sportier the 650 more touring both nice to ride & even handle dirt roads well.
- How much should I pay for a 1980 Honda cx500? Needs battery and carb clean, with 55K miles. Dallas, tx? I'm looking forward to my first motorcycle, and I think I found one… It's a 1980 Honda CX500, it has 55K miles on it and it also needs a battery, and they also said just a carb clean… It also needs inspection sticker, and they said it will pass with ease… How much should I pay for a bike like this? I live in Texas if that makes a difference.
- Should I buy a 2008 honda civic ex-l that has 100000 miles or a honda civic lx that has 82k miles? The honda civic ex-l has only one owner and the honda civic lx is from a dealer. They're fairly the same price
- Is 190560 miles on a 98 Honda civic lx considered high mileage? My sister gave me her civic and it runs great. There's hasn't been major problems since I've had it, other than the coil. With the right amout of money it was an easy fix. I've been wanting to change the oil but the guy at Wal-Mart suggested that I use the high mileage oil. I don't think it'll really hurt my car at any rate but is my car really high mileage?
- Can a newer car with high miles still be a good running vehicle? Say I got a year 2012 or a 2013 Honda Accord or Nissan Altima for example and I ran them up to 150,000 miles. Considering they are very new should they have any problems verses say like an older vehicle from the early 2000's late 90's with high miles (100,000+) that usually have problems every month? I'm asking if age difference makes a difference in a cars mechanical ability to perform. I'm asking if a vehicles age can be a contributing factor.
