Which 600 cc sport bike do you recommend?
I'm planning on getting a preowned 600 cc sport bike, but I'm stuck between a couple bikes. Based on pros, cons, issues, and etc. Which bike do you think is a better bet? Personally, I was stuck between a 2007-2009 gsxr 600 or a 2007-2009 yamaha r6. I have also heard the cbr 600rr is also a good bike. But I'm trying to lean away from a honda bike (No reason, personal preference). I'm a 5'6 rider, so height also plays a factor. But I'm looking for a reliable, and good looking bike. If you guys can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm researching, but I need rider opinions.
First of all, your height. If I was you I would find an example of a ZX600, CBR600, GSX-R and R6 and sit on them to see how my feet reach the ground. You would like to be able to sit on the bike with both feet flat on the ground, and the only way to tell is to sit on the bike.
Now, 600cc supersports are a very big market segment and all the Japanese mfgrs compete in this market vigorously. Meaning they all have an entry and they all upgrade them every year or two to add another 5 hp and shave off another 10 lbs. This is one reason they depreciate like they do. A 5 year old one is 'obsolete'!
But this also means that these bikes are all roughly equivalent in their ability to get around a track as quickly as possible. They are all roughly equal in speed and handling. What separates them is 'personality'.
From what I hear, the R6 is the most sophisticated, the ZX is the roughest and most 'brutal'. The CBR is the least extreme. The GSX-R is the most popular all around.
But I'm guessing whichever you get you'll be happy with it!
I like the feel of the Honda better than any other brand but I'm very tall.

- Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
