Types of suv's that can do what a pickup can?

I'm selling my truck to get an suv. I don't use the truck alot, but I still use it enough where I would like a suv that can do double duty when I need it to. I'm looking at older suv's with a top budget of $7,000. My list includes the Xterra, 4runner, pilot, murano, and even a Honda Element. My criteria is that the suv's seats fold flat and can fit appliances, like a fridge or washing machine.

"… Don't use the truck alot, but I still use it enough where I would like… "

Our SUV is an old KIA Sportage. Bought a small freezer, about 24" x 27" x 52". Went into the Sportage w/o opening the box, with the back door closed. Bought one of those walk/push exercise machines, Sears on-line. Went to the the thing, it was about 5' x 5' x 2' and about 300 pounds. "Ah… We'll be back." Rented a trailer, they put in the trailer, we went home, unboxed on the trailer and brought it into the house in pieces.

Bottom line -- Get whatever vehicle you like, with a 2,000 pound trailer capacity. You can rent, or buy a lightweight trailer from Harbor Freight (or whatever.)

A pick-up has one advantage that no SUV will match…( theoretically ) unlimited height restriction. A SUV has a roof which is great for keeping the elements away from your cargo but you are still restricted to carrying only what can fit under the roof. If you want to carry something in a pick-up bed that is higher than the cab roof, no problem.

A Suburban/Yukon might be able to pull a 14,000 lb trailer. Nothing else will come close to a pickup.

  • Your favorite types of cars? I've always been into Japanese or JDM cars. Although I can't stand Hondas (or other cars) with non-performance oriented, economy engines that have coffee cup exhausts. They sound way too raspy. I like deep sounding exhausts on four-bangers and even V6s (of course V8s as well.) But yes, for the most part I like Japanese performance cars. My all time favourite has to be the Nissan 300ZX. What about you? (sorry if I offended anyone)
  • What are best long lasting SUV's? Ok from my experience american cars, have nice design and all but they stop at 200k miles my charger did, and my Chevrolet as well, my son's nissan from 1999 lasted him over 450k miles & his honda its at 350k and still runs like a champion. Right now i want to buy a 2013 suv awd, but i want to be Japanese car, cuz they are the best maked from my experience, so what are some good Japanese suvs with really nice deisgn as well?
  • Need recommendations for a Minivan or SUV for 6'5 driver? I tried the Honda Odyssey and Pilot but they are just a bit too short in leg room (head space is fine). I'm looking for a 2012-2014 model… Any tall drivers with advice?
  • Types of motorcycles like Suzuki Marauder / Honda Shadow / Sportster? I'm pretty much only familiar with sport bikes. I like the Marauder and Shadow and Sportster styles of bikes. Any other suggestions similar to them?
