Theft Claim is being investigated. Should I be concerned?

Earlier this week, my car got broken into and had some interior parts stolen. I called the police immediately and filed a police report. I also called my insurance company and notified them of the incident. They had an adjuster come out and assess the damage. I have been in contact with adjuster and deciding how to proceed. On Friday, he said my claim is being investigated. I'm not sure what this means. He didn't provide too many details but only said that this is common step with theft or partial thefts. Can anyone confirm if this is a normal step?

I drive a car that is pretty common for break-ins (late/ early 2000s Honda) and live in a decent part of town. I had one other car stolen but this was almost 8 years ago and with a different insurance provider. Any input is appreciated.

The adjuster has to get a police report to verify what was stolen. He has to get some prices to determine the amount of your claim. It is routine.

All common and normal procedure. The insurance adjuster is simply verifying the report with law enforcement and making repair cost estimates. All part of the regular routine.

They ALWAYS investigate claims. Each and every one. They want to know if and how much they will have to pay.

  • What fuse can I remove to prevent auto theft Honda Civic? I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX. It was recently stolen. Is there a fuse I can remove so that the car won't start? Would I be able to take it out when I park and install it when I'm ready to use the car (i.e. Work)?
  • Suggestion on how to make my car more theft proof? I drive a 1999 Honda Civic SI and those are thief magnets. Currently I have one of those car alarm that if you open from inside or even from the trunk then the alarm will go off. I also have a steering wheel lock too. I was thinking of getting a car tracker device but you have to pay monthly for those. Detachable steering wheel also known as quick release came in mind but they are expensive and i don't want to carry my steering wheel everywhere i go.
  • How would my insurance claim work? My parked car underneath my metal carport collapsed onto my car due to a natural disaster(snow). I have car insurance and homeowners insurance with the same company. I'm a first time home buyer so this will be my very first claim. Would homeowners cover it all? What if I don't want a new carport? The car was a 2005 Honda Civic Sedan LX with 150k miles in good condition.
