What are some ways to save up for a first car?

Ok. I recently turned 13 so it hit me that getting a license is only a couple years away, I've been doing quite alot of research regarding how much insurance will cost and what car I want. My grandma agreed to help pay for the car so did my stepdad. And my mom said that it would be a good idea if my insurance was linked to hers (Geico). I'm looking to get a used car by the way. There are 3 cars that I've been doing research on and those cars are 2000-2005 Porsche Boxster, 2000-2009 Honda s2000 or the 1991-1995 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo.

So if anyone has good ways I can save up for a car please put them down bellow.
:D

When I was your age I wanted a job worse than anything to earn my own money and buy things I wanted. The best way to earn money at your age is to find a skill and stick with it. You could mow laws, dog/house sit for people, other yard work like trimming bushes, cleaning pools, or cleaning people gutters. My favorite that I used to do was detail cars, planes, and motorcycles. Municipal airports where I live in Texas will hire you at age 14 for cleaning airplanes. Buy some car detailing supplies at an auto parts store, learn how to wax/buff, learn what chemicals are good for stain removal, what products are best for polishing chrome, and do research! Search youtube for people detailing their cars, bikes, and planes and learn as much as you can. I did pretty good detailing, you can make a good $25 on bikes, $30 to $40 on car/trucks, and for a small 4 person aircraft, you can make $115 easy. If you do a personal jet, you can make $600. Just don't be shy! My problem was that I was too shy to ask people if I could clean their stuff, the worst thing they can do is say no, and if they say yes, then you get to make money!
Just find a skill you like, practice at home, put out fliers, and have fun. You also need to remember that being 13 is a blast, so have fun doing whatever you do!

For starters, unless you have some amazing cash gifts and a continual stream, I doubt that these cars will even be remotely affordable. However, if you do have some amazing cash gifts try this well known "secret": don't spend your money. By not spending, you will be saving. By saving, you will be accumulating. By accumulating, you may find that throwing your money away on insurance that you can't afford is not worth it. By discovering that it isn't worth it, you might just buy yourself an inexpensive, but reliable, starter car that you discover the joys of restoring. And by discovering the joys of restoring, you might find that you are too proud of your hard work to trash it out needlessly. And by taking care of it, you might learn to be responsible and you might learn skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. And by learning these skills, you might actually find yourself buying your dream car when you can really afford it.

I always had my kids put change in a jar. I know you are laughing…
funny thing my daughter did this for a year. Never spent change always broke a bill and faithfully saved all change. In a little more than a year that was over 1000.00 dollars.
so she was older and has a job.
lawn work around the neighborhood. Grandma and grandpa… Uncles and aunts.

Same here. A good way to save up is to do small jobs for money like moping the floor or doing the laundry. But before worrying about getting a car you should worry about learning how to drive one first because a car's no use without a license

Don't spend it on junk kids but today, like one direction albums.

  • Why do some people buy new cars to save gas? It seems like people complain about high gas prices so they go and buy these expensive gas saving cars. Usually a Honda or Toyota hybrid that's about $35,000 dollars. So what's the point of buying the car if you just wasted all that money. You could have just used that money for gas. Don't you think it's better to just buy a cheap $1,000 dollar Honda and save all that money for gas? Because buying the new car you pretty much threw all the money away.
  • Should I save up for car or stick with truck? Okay my family has 3 trucks, they gave me one that's usally sitting around. Excellent condition. Toyota tacoma 2003 4x4 with sr5. Only thing I hate is the mpg. I have a part time job and in high school as a sophomore. Should I start to save up for a car (mazda, scion, honda) with much better mpg or just stick with the truck? It gets about 15 mpg. I was looking to get a a car around 5k.
  • Will this be enough money to save up for a car? I'm 16 right now, and I work at a banquet center. I make minimum wage per hour for one day a week. (Sometimes two if it's busy). I get paid every Friday. So I was wondering if I save up my money, and put it in the bank would that be enough by the time I'm 18? I either want to buy a Pontiac g6 (2008- 2005) or a Honda civic (2009-2004). And they usually cost around 8k - 10k. I also have $3,100 saved in my account. Would this be enough?
  • What's a couple of ways to add more power to my 2013 Honda Civic EX? Besides new intake and new exhaust, how much horsepower could I push out of this 1.8L engine without blowing it? What are other ways I can do this?
