What are the top 5 or so used cars/trucks under $3000 in a CA market?
Another words, what are the easiest or most sought after i.e. Camry and Honda are probably two of them, can you name others? Would appreciate if your responses is backed up with experience, i.e. Someone in the business, salesman etc. Or actual knowledge first hand.

I agree, there are many different definitions of junk. I've sold cars for over thirty years and have heard them all.
I don't understand Cilly W's suggestion. Sounds like she say's her brother say's to buy a car between $500 and $1000. That's quite a narrow price range.
I think the reason no one is answering could be because there are not many people that has the first hand knowledge you asked for. When cars get that old and cheap it don't much matter what brand, mainly what is left that's still running good. My best guess would be your Japanese brands, but there have been some GM cars running 200000 miles and getting great mpg. Malibu's, Lumina's and others with the frame type.
The best way to find out is to look it up on the internet yourself. Most people don't want to do that for you.
Anything priced under 3k in cali is junk, or has no title/smog
edit* i'm from cali, and i think we have different definitions of junk.

- I sell cars for 1800$ or less but the taxes are almost here could I sell this car for 3000$? It's a 2004 Suzuki Verona 159,000 miles Automatic It's in exelent condition no problems But do you think I'll get 3000$ for it? Most people usually want a honda or Toyota
- Harley decals on the back of foreign cars/trucks? Has anyone else found it ironic that owners of Japanese cars have HD decals on their back windows? I often wonder why they don't put Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc decals on the back of their Harleys.
- What damage is possible from a construction cone riding under the front portion under the car? I was traveling doing about 55 mph and could not swerve to avoid hitting a construction cone. It hit under my car and dragged until I could pull over and pry it loose. I could not see too well under the car. I have a Honda Fit
