What are 4WD cars good for?

I drive a 2012 Honda Crosstour EX-L 4WD and was wondering what this type of drivetrain is specifically designed for.

I plan to be driving this for Uber, I would imagine the smoothness is better than a RWD or FWD would feel. Is this true?

Any other information about this type of drivetrain would be very appreciated.

Is it actually four wheel drive or a phony All wheel drive?

Mountains, and in the snow.

I had a full-time 4WD SUV and feel the extra pulling power in the front really helped its maneuverability. You'll get some help in bad weather too, but you've probably already figured out it's not made for off-roading.

4wd only gives you more confidence to drive when you should refuse to do so.

They are good in snow and unpaved backwoods roads. And it helps in the rain without having to worry about wheelspin if you have to punch the throttle. If you are in snow country you may get clients when others are afraid to drive.

I had Subaru GL wagons back in 1980 and 83 that were real 4WD (no differential or slip coupling between front and rear) or FWD when disengaged. The 83 even had a 2-speed transfer case with a low range. I now have a 2008 Subaru Outback (AWD) for winter and hauling.

Bashing thru the bush under that bull-bar there's a track.

  • Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
  • My 2013 Honda Pilots VTM-4(4WD mode) and Check engine light are on? A few miles latter I restarted the engine again, a few times and only the Check engine light was on. After driving a mile or so I turned off the car and started a couple of minutes later but this time no lights were on. A few miles before those two light went on, it felt like the car kind of jolted a little but I'm not too sure if it was an engine misfire or a pothole.
  • Is it better to sell Cheap cars or Expensive cars? As a car salesman? Some people would think cheap cars but people with bad credit get declined often. I know this because my credit sucks and i'm almost always declined for cars. I'm sure this makes it tougher to get a sale right? This has me thinking, i want to sell cars. Should selling luxury cars like mercedes and bmw be better than selling hondas and toyotas?
