Does progressive insurance offer discounts for defensive driving?
I'm a male, turning 25 on the 22nd of august, I drive a 2012 honda accord coupe. I'm taking defensive driving to get a ticket dismissed. Will it help me get a discount with progressive? I'm currently paying 220 a month for insurance.
They might, it all depends on both the laws and Progressive's underwriting procedures in your mystery location. Both of those vary from state to state.
Usually, the defensive driving course that you complete to get a ticket dismissed doesn't get you a discount. New drivers get a big discount if they take a complete training course (30 hours in the classroom, 10 hours in car, stuff like that), but the weekend course because you got a naughty-naughty ticket isn't worth much.
No, but if you complete the class and turn in the certificate to the judge as required it will keep the ticket off your record and keep your insurance from increasing.

I doubt it. The ticket counts more than the course you would take. Even after the ticket is dismissed, the insurance company will still have it on their records. From their point of view, the ticket makes you a high-risk driver and says something about your driving habits, regardless of what you might do legally to get it dismissed. From their viewpoint, if you get one ticket, you're very likely to get others.
