How to tell if everything is at top dead center on a 1994 honda accord?
Putting new head gasket timing belt and water pump on
Since you are putting new head gasket. The cylinder and pistons will be exposed once the cylinder head is removed.
Not all of them will be at top dead center at same time. Only 2 at a time. 2 on the outside. #1 and #4, and then 2 on the inside #2, #3. This is to balance the engine.
I have seen people remove the sparkplug and insert a feeler rod, or a long screw driver to feel the position of the piston head. Then they mark the timing wheel of the position.
Remember that the engine can only be turned one way, counter clockwise when facing engine from the driver side.
Please get a hold of a manual for more accurate information and procedure.
Turn to the engine chapter in your shop manual.
Go to head gasket replacement section. Follow the step by step instructions. Believe they had F22B1 and F22B2 engines, both have different heads and procedures for cam alignment.
I have a cd5 accord manual laying around, but I'm not going to type out 10 pages of it.
By lining up the mark the correct way. Get you a manual, it will explain everything.
- Does a top mount intercooler have to be on top? I've got a 13b Turbo II Intercooler from an rx7 and I was wondering if it could be side mounted on a honda. I figure I'd just have to custom fit it somewhere but, I wanted some input if it would work like that. It should considering it's just a basically a cooler.
- Clear up a scratch on Honda Accord Center Console? I have a 2014 Honda Accord LX. The back part of the center console which can be seen when in the back seat got scratched. Is there anyway I can fix this or buy that specific part?
