Should I get an Automatic or Tiptronic transmission car?

There are some 2nd hand 2004 and 2005 Honda Accords I'm looking at, one of them has a Tiptronic transmission and another has an automatic. Are they any disadvantages such as costs when comparing an automatic and tiptronic?

Not really. I'm betting the 2005 has the tiptronic? Most auto transmissions now are tiptronic; they're more or less just the newer version of the standard D321 trans in older cars… That being said neither choice would be a bad choice, I would try to get the lower mileage one or if they're close then just get the newer one.

The tiptronc box is an auto box… But by pushing /pulling.sideways it converts to a sequential manual. No gates… Just up and down to change gear… And no clutch… Handy for overtaking

Not on a used car.

A Honda will not have a Tiptronic transmission. It may have a similar transmission but it will not be Tiptronic. Saying that avoid the 2004 Honda Accord as the transmission was weak in both the 2003 and 2004 model years.

  • Using tiptronic to save gas? I have a 2000 Honda Prelude with a tiptronic and I've been shifting the car into 4th gear as early as the computer will let me. This has indeed improved my mileage. I drive around the streets most of the week. But does this have any negative effects on the car? Just wondering.
  • Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
  • Is it hard to do an oil change on a 1992 honda prelude automatic transmission? So i have an automatic 92 honda prelude. Its a 2.2l engine non vtech, and I've been wondering if i should do an oil change on the tranny. Main questions i have are, is it hard? Would i need to change the filter? Or simply just drain out the oil and add new oil in? Any help will be well appreciated. I want to do this on my own i don't want to spend over 100 dollars at an auto shop lol.
  • Honda Amaze automatic or Hyundai Xcent automatic? Which would be better purely in terms of performance, acceleration, smooth and fast gearshifts and handling, i mean the better drivers car. I know hondas transmission and engines are great, but is the hyundai as good too? Even though the xcent has only 4 gears, i.e. 1 less than the amaze, it has tiptronic, would this by any chance improve the driving experience? I sadly don't have the opportunity to test drive these cars.
