The guy is asking 2,300.
Also the car is green if that helps.
Offer him 1800 if you really want the car.
You don't say where you are, but it's a 20 year old Civic with some problems.
Around here it wouldn't even be considered road worthy (Cracked wind shield is an inspection fail), and would be worth under $1,000
Mileage?
He's looking for $2k, I'm curious why he says it needs an O2 sensor, after all the work listed it's one of the easiest things he could have done, is it running poorly? Despite all the work I'd say $1500. Tops and that's probably high.
I highly doubt all of that stuff is new, ask for receipts.
It would cost more to put all of those new parts in than the car is even worth.
Kelley Blue Book value on a 1996 Civic DX Hatchback with 240k miles (estimate based on the 20 year old status) in GOOD condition (not excellent, not poor, some things need repair) is $1,118. Even in EXCELLENT condition according to KBB, the value only goes up to $1,400-1,500. This would be if those parts all were really new, which is unlikely.
He's asking too much.
The cracked windshield will just get worse and it'll cost you $400-600 to fix it, which is why he hasn't done it. Check the blue book value of the car and then deduct the amount to fix the windshield, O2 sensor and the trunk. It's gotta go eventually if it's cracked.
Take the $1,118 value and deduct the windshield, that brings the value to $718. Now take off the cost to repair O2 sensor, about $100. That brings the value to $618. The trunk leak is additional.
Pay no more than $500.

- Why does the Honda Civic Si have such a high resale value? What is so good about those cars? I mean, I have seen very very few of them when I drive around. I guess they aren't as popular, but yet they are expensive for later models? I really don't know…
