Do I have to manually reset the low tire pressure icon?

I drive a 2010 Honda Civic LX. The low tire pressure icon lit up so I went to an auto shop to have my tires checked and inflated but the icon remains lit up. Does the icon turn off on its own after a certain amount of time/mileage or do I have to reset it myself?

Some need to be reset. Fords do after getting new tires. Look in your owner's manual to see how it's done on your Honda. Also, don't forget to check the spare tire too.

No you do not have to reset it yourself. Tire pressure monitoring system will throw the icon in the dash because it detects that the air pressure has dropped below factory standards. When that occurs, you can simply go to a gas station and check your tire pressure levels at their air pump station and compare those readings with the ones listed on the drivers door jam sticker. If it is different, then fill that tire with the correct pressure. Once the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
detects the correct air pressure, it will automatically turn off the indicator light in your dash.

YES you have to reset it yourself, it will tell you how in your owners manual. Not sure why you can't check them yourself as you should be doing it weekly along with all your fluid levels. It is basic maintenance of a car.
