How much air should I put in psi?

2000 Honda Civic Lx says that the tires should be 30psi (front) and 29 psi (rear) but the tires I have aren't the original tires. On the tires it says max psi 44 (front) and on the rear tires it says 50 psi. Which one should I go with? Or should I find something in between?

The car maker decides the air pressure of the tires, not the tire maker.

I keep my tires between 28ish and 34psi

You go with the book,… Or sticker on the door,…30, the tire says the max pressure the tire can have before damaging the side walls

The pressures on the sidewall are maximum, not advised for a particular car. Honda takes into account weight on that particular tire. The front is heavier, so I would go 30 to 32. The rear is lighter so about 28.

What does MAX mean to you? Go with the actual recommended pressures, not the maximums.

Go with what the manufacturer of the CAR says.
The same tires could be used on many different cars, all with different pressure requirements. The numbers on the tires are simply the MAXIMUM safe pressure for those tyres.

The recommended tire PSI for your Honda is based on the vehicle itself, not the brand or model of tire. Your recommended tire PSI is exactly the same regardless of what replacement tires you may have purchased. The MAX pressure rating listed on any given tire is a safety warring and has nothing to do with what PSI is recommended for your automobile.

30/29, as the car says. The only purpose of the number on the tire is to tell you how much air you can squeeze into it before the whole thing explodes in your face.
