2011 Honda fit air conditioner doesn't work on 1 or 2 setting?
I had my oil changed in my 2011 Honda fit on Saturday and they told me I would need to change my cabin filter soon, not yet but soon. I took it into consideration and know how to change it myself so I didn't worry about it. However now my air conditioner ISN'T working right! When I first start my car and turn on the air nothing comes out of the blower on settings 1 or 2 but when I crank it up to 3 or 4 and then go back down to 1 or 2 it works fine. I know enough to know that an air filter will not stop it from working and that it is a compressor problem but it seems weird that right after they mention it, my air stops working:/ (literally that afternoon). Could they have damaged it somehow when checking the filter or changing the oil? Is this a common issue with Honda Fits? I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow but I thought I would check online first.
It could be the blower switch has worn out contacts but most likely it is the resistor. Is the Fit still covered by the factory warranty for the blower motor's resistor? How many miles does it have? If not, replacing the resistor should be an easy DIY; all are readily accessible by dropping down the lower glove box as you would to change the cabin filter. Just squeeze in the sides and pull forward. You may have to remove the glove box completely by removing the two hinge screws to get access.
On 2009, there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that I've included for your consideration, your Honda Fit is 2011 so it's newer, but it's good to read for information:

This link contains all TSB's for 2011 Honda Fit:

Edit: Wonder what the chances are of Honda fixing this as a "Good Will" gesture (which was hinted at in the 2009 TSB). I don't think the blower resistor or the switch should be failing at this point in the game, especially in a Honda. HTH
I would suspect the problem is the blower motor resistor pack is going bad. This is a common symptom of one that is failing.
- Pilot or air/fuel screw setting? What is the recommended number of turns for the pilot screw ( the air/fuel screw) on a 1982 Honda Nighthawk 450? I recently set it to 2 1/2 turns out but it doesn't seem to be getting enough
- Will cbr 250 2011 fairings fit cbr 125 2011? I can't find the Honda CBR 125 2011 fairings anywhere and it doesn't look nice anymore with alot of holes and cracks but I have a shop near me that is selling for the CBR 250 2011 fairings and both bikes look exactly the same but I don't want to waste alot of money if it doesn't fot
- Why does AC quit cooling on 2011 Honda CRV? Seems to be working fine- then hot air? The wife complained yesterday- so I checked ut. Its has freon in it. Pressure check was in the green. Blowing cool. Again today she calls- it started blowing hot air again. Could it be something beside the compressor?
- Why doesn't my honda civic speed needle work? So when I'm driving I can't tell what speed I'm going the needle works when it wants to. I replaced the speed sensor and it still doesn't work. Might I need a cluster?
