Why does AC quit cooling on 2011 Honda CRV? Seems to be working fine- then hot air?

The wife complained yesterday- so I checked ut.
Its has freon in it. Pressure check was in the green. Blowing cool.
Again today she calls- it started blowing hot air again.
Could it be something beside the compressor?

The blend door regulates the temperature, the actuator is a common failure, less likely is the dash control unit.
No gauge can tell if the proper amount of refrigerant is in the system, it's done strictly by weight. The gauge can monitor the compressor function, that's about it.
If the A/C is fluctuating between warm & cold, the refrigerant level is probably OK.

The compressor or condenser may be malfunctioning.

Bad thermal expansion valve. A failing compresor clutch. Or moisture in the refrigerant. Or bad pressure switches. Or bad comp relay. Or a clogged receiver/drier.

When the ac is blowing hot, turn the AC to max cold and check if the clutch is turning. If it is not, check if the power wire to the compressor clutch is getting power. If there's power and the ground wire tests good at the same time, the compressor clutch is shot.

If there's no power, swap the ac compresor relay. If it fixes it, replace the relay. If still no power, check the pressures with a manifold and troubleshoot from the result and maybe it is time to see the AC pros.

Not the compressor. That vehicle uses an orifice tube expansion device, if it does get a little low on refrigerant the evaporator could freeze over. Since you checked the pressure and that's good, I would next check operation of the condenser fan and make sure no bugs or debris in the fins of the condenser. Any problems here and the compressor eventually will get damaged!

Debug the heat exchanger. Also it is recommended to run the ac on a regular basis and not only when the weather turns warm.

  • Cooling fan not working, 2004 Honda civic? I've unplugged the temp sensor and put a wire in the plug to test the fan and it comes on when I do that, so the relay has to be working and the fan isn't broken either. I switched the Temperature sensor hoping the old one was just broken, but my car's still over heating and the fan won't come on. It was working perfectly fine until just last week. Anyone know what the problem could be?
  • Car ran fine then wouldn't start, got a jump, now everything is fine again. What happened? '03 Honda Civic. Last 30 mins of work I sat in my car with the A/C on full blast and radio on, like I do everyday (and of course the car is running). I stopped at Subway after work. The car was parked for 10 mins. After the car would not start but the radio and dash board lights would come on, but it would not crank. Got a jump from AAA. Afterwards Auto Zone tested the battery and alternator, both passed. I has been a week now and no problems. What the heck could have happened?
  • 2016 Honda civic cooling fans not working? I got in a fender bender and i needed to replace my radiator and my a/c condenser. Then i'm about to drive and notice my fans weren't turning on, i know i plugged everything back in, i bought a new cooling switch but still won't turn on.
  • 2001 honda civic lx 4dr. Temperature gauge went up to hot maximum for about 5 minutes then went back down to normal position. Why? Driving only 15 minutes at 35 mph when this happened on temp gauge what seems to be the problem? This is the first time this occurred.
