Is it safe to trim center bore of steel rim?

I brought a used set of Honda steel rims/snow tires off craigslist and all was supposed to go well. Tire size and rim fits my nissan but the only problem is that the center bore on these wheels are about 2mm smaller than what I need, so the lip on my hub won't allow these to fit these on completely.

Can I take a grinder and take alittle bit off the center bore so these wheels fit? I'd hate to sell them since they're so new but I don't want to ruin the wheels either. They are steel rims and the only info I can find are for alloys.

That is the HUB DIAMETER, and know you know you need to know yours and the wheels'. A machine shop could fix them. You would have to have a skilled hand to use a Die Grinder and shave off 1mm from the inner hub.

Maybe, if you can get someone to put it on a lathe to ensure equal removal of the material. I would be concerned with the strength of the wheel after the material is removed. Before doing that, I would take some emery cloth and use it on the hub and center bore. It doesn't take much debris to interfere with the installation of the wheel onto the hub. You're only talking about.07" in that 2mm error.

You should ask a tire and wheel expert about this. My concern is that Honda wheels are hub-centric; the wheels are supported by the hub and are just held on by lugs that are not bearing any weight, but you will be putting weight on them. I think you would be okay because they are steel but I would not risk it without asking my tire guy.
