Honda jazz 2005 1.4 engine with 160000 miles or vw lupo year2000 with 80000 miles? What to choose? - 1

With nothing more to go on, VW - much longer life and better fuel economy.

Like with any car, it also comes down to how well they were taken care of, maintained, inside and out, cleanliness, mechanical - engine, wires, hoses, belts, chains, bearings, etc.

Which ever test drives the best with no faults.

Hi the issue also depends on how they have been serviced as well.

I like the jazz, but the Lupo is so cool and original especially before the facelift. Get the lupo.

Now YOU got to LOOK at them inside and out… Interior wear and body rust. One car has been on the road "TWICE" as long as the other. Maybe the other spent most of its time parked at the home garage… Not running on the road. Engines, even well maintained ones have a "usable lifespan"

That is 100,000 miles(or 10 years). Then it is engine rebuild time because it is worn out.

This is no different than a pair of good leather shoes. They will last 40 years if you only wear them on Sunday and keep them dry and put on shoe polish and keep them in the closet out of the sun. They will look as new as day 7 as you break them in to be more supple and fit around the foot. So the leather has creases where the toes bend when you walk.
. But wear the shoes every day for everything you do.(I wore cowboy boots instead of shoes… I wore them to dances, weddings, playing soccer, riding motorcycle in the snow and in mud puddles and wore them to work.) The heels wear out first which I had a shoemaker fix with new heels, later the soles wore away to the sock and I had the shoemaker resole them. It was only a matter of time until the leather on top failed and cracked wide open. It was at the end of its serviceable life. Now I need a New Boot because this can't be fixed.

Engine mileage don't mean a hill of beans unless it is still the same motor(and that has not been touched yet) .
Motors are just a removable part. The rest of the car has 160,000miles on it; meaning brakes, transmission, steering, exhaust and other miscellaneous components. That HAS to be considered.

If not sure then hire a mechanic to take a look at them and give you his best guess. If he is against anything German; then he is not an objective mechanic. He is allowing personal prejudices get in the way of seeing the vehicle for what it is. These are the same mechanics that will refuse to work on V.W. Just for the same reason.

Otherwise, it is your choice. Which one has the color you like?

  • I just bought a 2004 Honda Jazz Manual. When I make a turn it squeals? I just bought a 2004 Honda Jazz Manual. When I make a turn it squeals. When I switch the air con off the squeal stops but sometimes it goes away when I change gear even if the air con is switched on. The squeal lasts about 5 to 8 seconds depending on whether I change gears, switch the aircon off or restart the engine. Does anyone know what the problem is here? I'm guessing it could be the serpentine belt.
