1982 Honda CB450 nighthawk can't find neutral?
My cb450 has been getting harder and harder to find neutral. It's not that it skips it but it's physically hard to push the pedal to neutral. I changed the oil and messed with the clutch cable but didn't seem to make a difference. When the bike is off or moving it is relatively easy to get it into neutral but if it's running and stationary it's pretty much impossible to shift up or find neutral. Any ideas? Thanks! Also, if I need work on it if you k ow the price range for what I need that'd be awesome f you could include it!
Unfortunately, the phrase "… Messed with the clutch cable…" doesn't inspire confidence in your ability to find the problem. If you're unsure about what you're doing, the best advice is simply - don't.
The CB-450 (like most Hondas) has a neutral detent in the gearbox. This is a device (probably a lever and notched wheel or arm and cam system) that makes it easier to select neutral, when the engine is running. When the detent becomes worn, it gets progessively harder to put the bike into neutral. The detent is relatively easy to locate and replace, if you know what you're doing.
- Where can I find extended cables for a Honda nighthawk 650? I just am tired of leaning over and I want to do a mini ape set up with like a 9 inch rise so where can I find the throttle cable both push and pull, the brake, hydraulic clutch, speedo and tach thanks
- What is the price range for a decent 1986 honda cb450 nighthawk? Looking for an older Nighthawk but I know nothing when it comes to pricing, found one that needs the gas tank cleaned and lined for $900, and not sure if good or bad deal.
- Is a 1982 Honda cb450 Nighthawk a good bike? I'm looking at a 1982 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk. This is my first bike. There are 26K miles on this bike and the dealer wants $1375 for it. Kelley Blue Book said this bike is worth $1175. I ran a vehicle history report and found nothing wrong. Should I buy it? How much should I pay?
- 1982 Honda nighthawk problems? I just got a nighthawk. I was going down the road and the bike just spuddered down and came to a stop. Its turning over but its not fireing. Fuel line is good. And we're getting spark. Any ideas?
