The cycle will haul you around town and some side roads. If in US it won't be interstate legal- need 151cc to get on interstate by federal standards. You're a beginner- learn to handle cycle and the traffic then think about bigger cycle for highways. Some posters from UK have to ride 125 for a year or 2 from first getting license or need to be 17 or so- is this your situation legally? California posters note they have a graduated license situation sometimes- can't ride more than 150cc for a year or so if under 21? - so again the 125cc beginners cycle is a legal restriction acceptable ride for the year or so until legal to get bigger cycle. If your in city traffic mostly under 50mph- you might find it is all you need and can park it inside for security reasons. 125cc size around campus is the next step up from the 49cc 'mopeds' and lots of small cycle and scooters around.
NO! You will get tired of i very fast. The same goes for a 250cc motorcycle. Everyone who owns one who is proud of it simply does not want to admit how much power they lack. They simply can't get out of their own way fast enough. My suggestion to you would be to buy something like an 80's model kz or cb. They are upright style bikes so you won't be too leaned over. You can find nice used ones for cheap on craigslist, the bikes come in displacments from 440-900cc's. Some of the bikes are inline fours and some are parallel twins so if you want to get used to the torque curve of something similar to a sport bike you can ride an inline four and feel the pull without too much power. I personally ride an 83 kz750 and it's not near enough bike. Granted i've been riding all my life. But you will be dissapointed after two weeks on a 125 or a 250.
It would be OK but I think the Ninja 250 would even be better, I think the Ninja is made in Japan compared to Thailand? The Ninja has the same seat height but is about 80 pounds heavier. I'm not sure if you would want to take the 125 on the highway. I just did a search and saw a 2007 for $2500 from a dealer and you could one less from a private seller. Ride safe and watch out for leaves!
I'm 5'9", 200#, and ride a Vespa LX150 on the streets of L.A., freeways, and tour on the Interstates. My scooter has 11.7 bhp and hits 65 mph. The CBR125R has 13.1 bhp and does 70 mph. Is that good enough for you? If you are not capable of riding a small bike fast you have to get a bigger bike to compensate for your capabilities.
Yes, but you will move up pretty fast to a bigger size so you should buy a used one instead of a new one
- Would a Honda Shadow Phantom 750 be a begginer motorcycle? OK. I'm 16 years old I've bought all the nessecary gear I got that idea of watching cyclecruza's squid videos and didn't want that to happen to me. Well because I shouldn't look up to my dad who rides a Harley 1200 who only wears a helment a t shirt and just jeans. I know not to go over the speed limit but all I need to know if thus good first bike.
- Will a honda cbr300f be enough for me to ride to and from work? I'm looking into buying my first street bike. I'm wondering will a cbr300f be enough to take me to and from work. My work is 35 miles from my home. I weight about 175 and that is without protective gear. I want to know before I get my hopes up if the 300f will allow me to ride at 70 or 80 miles per hour and still allow me to accelerate to pass vehicles if needed.
- Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
- Is a Honda Crf 450R good for my weight and height? I recently been getting into dirt bikes and I was wondering if a Crf450R is a good size for me. I'm 5'7 and weigh 169.
