Walking a motorcycle home?

So I'm buying this bike on craigslist and it doesn't ride and I have no trailor or truck to get it home. Its about a mile walk from the sellers house, is it legal to walk it home and is there some secret method other than putting it in nuteral and pushing it. It's a 1986 Honda rebel 250 if that helps.

A mile is not too bad, but make sure that the brakes function properly - obviously you will struggle if they are seized, but you will also need them while pushing it. Lean into the bike and drive from your legs, try to keep it going, overcoming inertia from a stop will drain you quickly. Walking it home shouldnt be a problem, just not on the road in the car lane sure you can walk it home… IF… You have a clear title from the previous owner, signed over to you The logical thing would be to ride it home. You will have a bill of sale to show your just taking it from point of sale to your house one mile away. I doubt you'd get in trouble with sale papers that are dated and signed. Put it in neutral and push it. It will be very helpful if the tires have full pressure in them.

If you can legally walk along the roads you intend to push the bike, it should be legal to push the bike. Funny regulation here. Illegal for you to push it along the footpath & illegal for you to walk on the roadway if there's a footpath.
ie no footpath no problem BUT if there's a footpath in theory you are required (officially) to walk along the path wheeling the bike along the roadway. (& who says law makers are idiots)
